Goodbye. I’ve been thinking about the time I spend here. For a while, the debates and discussions were entertaining. Yet, lately, I have been losing interest. People, for the most part, have made up their minds and merely like to see that their messages are read. This may include me. Debates are never truly won or lost as people continue to hold tightly to their biases.
Nothing really changes one way or the other.
---------
I have considered different issues from different perspectives. I have “put my feet into other people’s shoes” and continue with the conclusion that I am a moderate. At the same time, I don’t know why I am telling this to you. Whether you agree with me or not, I will remain true to myself. Unless I find something that I have never considered before, I think that I will remain a moderate. For example:
At the very least, I think that civil unions should be established for gay couples. I even think that under special circumstances, gays should be allowed to adopt. Yet, I don’t think that gay couples should have a child through artificial insemination or a surrogate mother.
I think that people should be allowed to take Marijuana but not Cocaine.
I think that prison life should be a much more difficult life. Benefits such as television and elective surgery should not be allowed. Yet I am against the death penalty.
I think that there should be government welfare yet I do not think that everyone should be required to put everything into a pot and have the wealth distributed evenly to everyone. In other words, I oppose total lazie-faire capitalism but I also oppose complete socialism.
---------
In leaving, my wish would be that we be civil. May we agree to disagree without being disagreeable. Try to find something good in every human being.
For this time of year, to the Christians, I say “Merry Christmas”. Happy Kwanzaa. To Jews, I say, “Happy Hanukkah”. To other people, I say “Season’s Greetings” or "Blessed Solstice". To Muslims, I say, "Salaam". Please forgive my ignorance of the religious terms, customs, and traditions of other people. To make it simple:
May whatever you believe in give you peace.
Good-bye.
