Stop trying to redefine "deportation" or "removal".Ah, you are being disingenuous again.
Of those "12 million:, 11 million were apprehensions at the Mexican border who were immediately returned.
Actual REMOVALS under Slick Willy - tracking down someone who had lived here for years was only 869K.
It should be pointed out that the removals/returns under Clinton were almost exclusively Mexicans, and we have an agreement with Mexico to take back their citizens.
Same thing with Bush. Of the 10 million he "deported," 8 million were border apprehensions. 2 million were removed from the interior.
Now, the problem with Obama is that the number of border apprehensions dropped. Partially, it was because Mexicans were finding plenty of work in Mexico, and partially, it was because people from other countries transiting through Mexico figured out the asylum policy. (It helps that most of them come from countries we declared Human Rights Abusers).
This is why walls won't work. Trump is trying to fix the 2020 immigration problem with a 1990's tactic. The immigrants aren't sneaking across the border; they are walking up to a checkpoint and requesting asylum. The problem is that Trump so badly dismantled the asylum system that instead of having their cases resolved in 180 days as required by law, they can wait for years and years.
1. A removal is court ordered.
2. A deportation is when an illegal has no passport and cannot prove he needs asylum.
The fact that 12,000,000 illegals were deported under Clinton for entering illegally is not debatable.
I'm not sure what all is included in HR-2 but I'm pretty sure expedited removals is included. There are about 2,000,000 removals currently ordered by the courts. So that plus the 600,000 criminals is a good starting point.
Walls work, so says CBP and Homan. Trump will not accept "asylum" claims. I'm hoping congress drops asylum as a reason for entry into the US, there are other countries to take them in.
