Many of us support an American Empire because we know that a weakened America is precarious to world peace. Do Americans care about an empire?

why doesn't exxon protect their own damn seas? a significant part of our defense budget is spent to keep gasoline cheap.
This is true, but it's mostly to keep it cheap for our allies. North America and Gulf of Mexico (with a little Venezuela thrown in) covers our consumption.

That I can not explain. It does not change the fact that we soon won't be able to ship the products we need. That present big issues for us. We are not redeveloping the infrastructure at nearly the pace needed Also we have another huge problem coming very soon as many of the countries that currently supply us are losing population to the point that they will not have the manpower to supply those products. The economic costs due to loss of those products is larger than the cost of patrolling the seas. We need to get serious about installing manufacturing infrastructure immediately then we can draw down on that naval force formally used to patrol the seas. China is currently trying to take out place in patrolling the seas. Not sure we want that particular country to do so though. Britain and France are really the only allies with the right location for it but they don't have the economic power to do it. So here we are.

It is no more a problem for us than it is for most countries around the world.

The world has gotten lazy relying on the US to be the world's police force.

It is time for them to step and take their turn

China is not on the war, they are in fact the country that is getting the most benefit out of the war.
They are building a war machine. A huge war machine. They show no signs of plateauing. At some point they will test drive it.

The US spends 3.6% of our GDP on our military. China spends 1.7% of their GDP on their military.

We have 50,000 plus troops within striking distance of mainland China. China has zero troops within striking distance of the mainland US.

Perhaps China is building up as result of our actions.

Don't Steal Their Fortune Cookies

China wants to control its sphere of influence in the South China Sea. Their strategy is called "the nine-dash line," a series of islands there. They have a right to their own Monroe Doctrine.

No reason for us to butt in, but we can appease our military-industrial complex by selling arms to all the rich Asian countries that feel threatened by this.
