How do you boil a frog? Manufacturing started leaving long ago. We have not had a budget passed since Clinton. Nothing but stop gap measure since. The American public only thinks about the president when it is congress that is broken. Congress has not accomplished its most basic function in decades. People continue to focus on single solutions when our problems are many. They have us focused on the wrong things. They have us divided by gender, they have us divided by party, they have us divided by religion, the have us divided by rural verse urban, they have divided by race, on and on it goes. Better get that manufacturing base back and in a hurry. The American navy will soon no longer be able to protect the seas. Once that happens we won't be able to get the shit needed to rebuild. Soon the age of piracy will be back.

a benign "pax americana" would be ideal. maybe even a "pax united nations" would be better

The US navy is hardly protecting the seas. It’s job is to promote the power of the empire, by fear and intimidation. Much of the world sees that now, but few Americans do. Thanks to the statist propaganda too many Americans consume.

I know that they sent special forces. These guys apparently kill themselves rather than being taken hostage, some of this is factual going back many decades when one N Korean guy did not commit suicide but all his comrades did. He lived to defect to S.Korea.

So, nothing really.

While in the Marines, back in the late 90s I was at Osan AFB when a NK MIG pilot defected to SK. This guy was a fighter pilot, the top of the food chain in their military. He did not have an anti-G flight suit like fighter pilots from all over the world. He had straps of cloth around his feet as they did not have socks. His "flight manual" was notes hand written on pieces of paper. And again, these guys got all the best stuff.

That was 25 or more years ago, do you think things have improved much since then? I would say probably not.
