In my youth I looked at the process to immigrate (dual citizenship) to Australia.....If you were not well heeled or had a skill that they needed to hit the ground running as a earner you could visit but could not stay.

They were in dire need of prison help back then and even offered free billeting (in someone's home) for a year. The pay was very good too.

Oddly enough they did not have prisons out in the middle of nowhere, they were around the cities and I had no desire to live in a city.
