Imagine having to pay a $22,000 repair bill on a 9-year-old vehicle you paid $50,000+ for. Fuck that.

"A disgruntled Finnish Tesla owner has detonated his electric vehicle - along with an effigy of Tesla founder Elon Musk - to protest the cost of a replacement battery.

Tuomas Katainen blew up his 2013 Tesla S Model 2012 with 66lbs of dynamite after its battery failed and he was faced with the £17,000 ($22,000) repair bill.

Instead of stumping up the cash, the 26-year-old contacted the local Youtubers Pommijätkät 'bomb dudes' to blow up the car - for which prices now start at £73,990 ($100,000).

Some pretty awesome video in this one...

There is only part of the whole green car thing. We still get most of our electricity from fossil fuels. So you are still using fossil fuels to power your green car. Which pretty much makes it not green. Then you have to replace batteries, tires, windshield wiper, you still need lubricants. You still need roads. You still need the plastics needed to built the thing. Replacement rubber gaskets. The list goes on. The so called green cars are not really green, they are expensive but it does make some feel better until they actually learn the truth

Wow. Never blew 66 Lbs of dynamite at one time in my life. That was awesome! Looked like he was pissed and had money to blow to make a statement.

My smokin' hot Puerto Rican girlfriend used to have a Prius. Two years ago the battery needed to be replaced. The price wasn't has high as the Tesla, but the total repair bill was still going to be north of two grand. She got rid of it for the Blue Book price, minus the cost of the battery, and bought a Ford Fusion which she like much more...

LOL Is there no place in Finland that is capable of doing what these people do?

We get 20% from renewables, 20% from nuclear, 40% from natural gas, 19% from coal, and 1% from other sources.

And your point is? Nuclear is hardly green it is the worst of all due to its Half life of dangerous radiation. So given That 20% comes from renewables (which also get the lions share of government subsidies to make them even close to usable) we still get the largest portion of our energy from fossil fuels. Or are you under some mistaken impression that natural gas is not a fossil fuel?

The half-life of any car is about ten years ... whether electric, hybrid or piston ... I drive like a girl so I get 16 years out of a rig ... 8 years out of a lawn mower ... 4 years for a weed-eater ... yes, it's called a lifestyle rut ... so sue me ...

Very green ...
