Man blocks black delivery driver in Oklahoma neighborhood

Are you unaware of the number of people on this message board alone who have readily admitted and stated unequivocally that if they see a black person in their neighborhood they consider them a criminal suspect? As long as there is a significant portion of the U.S. population who believes as they do and acts on it then we will continue to have these incidents.

There are numerous communities in America that are virtually or literally 100% Honky. Its going to pique people's interest when someone of non-honky ethnicity drops in.

I'm sure that the neighbors would be peaking out their windows if I walked down the streets of Watts or Bed Stuy or numerous other Ghettos that the residents don't know me, too.
You know something that is really sad though? When we were young, in our teens even, we sometimes would drive out to a really nice neighborhood like in Palos Verdes in Los Angeles County and look at the houses there which were these big beautiful cliffside homes. We weren't casing anyone's house, just admiring them and dreaming of being able to live somewhere like that one day.

Maybe because Los Angeles is home to so many celebrities and they're accustomed to the tourists looky-loos nobody really gets that bent out of shape by people who aren't a part of their neighorhood being in it.

You can't "lawfully" detain someone unless you have proof of a crime (like blood all over the driver
and a bloody axe in his hand). The most you can do is get information and relay it to the cops.
That no one on the pro racist side wants to acknowledge this is amazing.
He wasnt detained. Quit using words you dont understand. At no time was he cuffed. His vehicle was blocked, but that isnt detainment. If it WAS detainment, Black Lives Matter would all be in prison right now for all the traffic they blocked.
Actually I was right and you can be detained without every coming near hand cuffs.
Look it up. Ironically it's you who don't quite understand the word.

So why wasnt BLM arrested all those times they blocked HUNDREDS of people?
That's a question for the police and civil authorities to answer.
It has nothing whatsoever to do with the proper definition of "detain".

There is very little difference between blacks and whites in the USA. If you doubt me try living in Europe on the economy and see how ******* weird Europeans are.

After my two years in Germany, though a nice place it isnt America, and Germans are far from being like Americans.

White Americans have far more in common with American blacks than they do with white Germans.

It is amazing how irrelevant race realoly is when you stop using bias confirmation.

So why wasnt BLM arrested all those times they blocked HUNDREDS of people?
I have often wondered that too.

If they are preventing me from going about my business, they are engaging in unlawful detention.

What a shocker the racists here assume because the men who stopped him were white racism had to be their motivation.

There could have been any number of motivations here. Maybe it is against the rules of the Homeowners Association to receive deliveries of furniture on certain days or times- so they know it couldn't have been a delivery?

which is why they asked who he was and where he was going. Instead of answering that simple question he decided to make an issue out of it.

They had every right to ask - even though they only asked the black man. Nothing can prevent an asshole from being an asshole and nothing can prevent a racist from being a racist. They can ask and Miller can tell them to **** off and keep driving. It's when they blocked his way that it became illegal.

So how do you know this is the person and only person they have ever stopped? You can't because you don't. Your bigotry is filling in the gaps of missing information for your argument.

In my in-town home I described above, where I live at the very end of the cul-de-sac, there was a car parked there for over an hour one day, with a guy sitting in it. Since he didn't go to any house and wasn't parked in front of any house, but right at the end of the road, crossways across the road, it was a bit suspicious. I went out and asked him what he was doing there. He told me he was a bail-bondsman and was watching for a guy in an apartment across the main road. I wasn't happy with my quiet street being used for what could become dangerous but couldn't do anything about it; I went back in the house.

The bail-bondsman could have told me to **** off; that it was none of my business. I would simply have called the cops and gone back in the house. The cops might come; they might not... But that would have been the extent of my "authority" to do anything. I could watch him, outside or the convenience of my living room, all I wanted. What I couldn't legally do is block him in.

This has nothing to do with your false premise about the two white men.

I've been a VIP captain and I've seen plenty of busy bodies watching the neighborhood and they could care less what color the person is if they aren't recognized. You are assuming racism based on your own bigotry towards these men without any evidence to back you up.

Black and white differences in this country are mostly cultural...food, music, fashion, etc.
And even they aren't all that different. There is lots of crossover from black to white and white to black.
The media has done a great job of keeping people at each other's throats, though.

Still they can't totally keep us from uniting when we are threatened.

I attended a BLM rally here in Seattle back in 2015 I think it was. We had police escorts, they even threw blocks for us so that we could proceed through the intersections without interruption from vehicle traffic.

It was the first time I've ever marched for a cause and I found it to be a positive experience. I marched specifically because of what was done to Sandra Bland thinking that could have easily have happened to me since I have driven across Texas on more than a few occassions while in college, the last time alone.

But to answer your question - it was a lawful assembly with permission of the City of Seattle which is why we had police protection.

Thanks for pointing this out.It shows just how dangerous blacks are. These crimes are blacks aged 18-30 years old.About 5% of the population. No wonder white folks are scared.
Wrong answer there buddy. These were total arrests. The numbers show the exact opposite. They show the number of people in the population who were arrested, That means all who were not arrested do not apply and are not counted. And what we see is that whites were arrested 2.5 times more than blacks. That whites lead in all but three categories of crime making them more apt to commit a crime than anyone else by far.

Generally organized protests get police protection because you have to fill out the appropriate paperwork.

"its amazing hundreds of blacks are killed by other blacks Daily AND NOT A PEEP from the left- EVER!"

The racists always try this argument when another act if racism is displayed. Hundreds of whites are killed by other whites daily also and there is not a peep from the right. In fact when you bring it up, they come 0up with the ancient old per capita claim.
Yes we do bring up the facts which we know is very inconvenient for you. Now go ballistic and call me racist and then refresh and reload.
Per capita are not the facts.

A black delivery driver was brought to tears while recording himself and a black co-worker as they were blocked from leaving a gated Oklahoma City neighborhood for nearly an hour by a white resident who demanded to know why they were there.
Travis Miller, who delivers home appliances and furniture, captured the incident Monday in a Facebook Live video that has gone viral. The 37-minute video had nearly 300,000 views by Thursday evening and had been shared more than 10,000 times.

Miller, like many of those who commented on the video, believe the encounter was racially motivated.

Miller, 42, told NBC News that his customer in Edmond gave him the code to get through the neighborhood's gate. After completing the delivery and as they were trying to exit, a man who identified himself as David Stewart and a board member of the homeowners' association can be seen on the video questioning Miller and his co-worker about why they were on his street.
A man by that name could not be reached for comment Thursday.

Miller said in the video that he was trying to make a U-turn and that as he turned around, the man was blocking him in with a white Subaru.

"If I go around him, I'm going to have to drive on somebody's property and I don't want to make a bad situation worse," Miller said in the video.

Miller repeatedly asked the man to move the car.

"I'm not moving," the man said. "All you have to do is tell me where you're going."

Miller refused, saying he did not have to tell the man anything.

Miller said Thursday that he kept his seat belt on, remained in the truck and recorded the encounter to protect himself and his colleague.

"My intention was never to go viral," Miller said in a phone interview Thursday. "My intention was to cover myself in case he called my employer and said I did something other than what I did."

He said he also did not want the situation to escalate, because he feared that if police had responded, he would have been perceived as the aggressor.

About 30 minutes into the encounter, a second white man confronted Miller.

"All we want to know is why you're in here and who gave you the gate code," the second man said. "That's all we need to know."

After Miller refused to reveal his client's personal information, the man who identified himself as Stewart said he was calling police.

At one point in the video, Miller can be seen with tears streaming down his face. He wipes his tears away with a blue bandanna before he, too, calls police.

The man who initially approached Miller can be seen in the video calling police to withdraw a report after he got in touch with Miller's customer.

Miller said he also called Edmond police to make sure the man had withdrawn his report.

Miller said his customer defused the situation by telling the two men to move.

"He said he was sorry it happened," Miller said. "He said those guys are overprotective of the neighborhood."

Capt. Larry Withrow of the Oklahoma City Police Department said Friday that officers did not go to the scene because the original caller who reported that "there was a trespasser in the subdivision" at 4:21 p.m. called back about 30 minutes later and cancelled the report. Withrow said a third call was placed at about 4:55 p.m. by a man who said he wanted to know if it was OK for him to leave the property.

Wow.

He was just doing his job.

What makes those men think they had any authority to demand such information from him?

What makes those men think that they own public streets?

If I was that man driving that truck, I would sue those men who blocked their truck. They had absolutely no authority to do what they did.
"What makes those men think they had any authority to demand such information from him?"

White privilege.

How is someone waiting for an hour suddenly news? He probably got paid just the same.

Seriously? as long as he was paid then random people on the street have the right to stop people and hold them against their will? So what if a person is off the clock and not losing any pay anyway? Can I hold you against your will for a few hours as long as you're not losing wages - like in the evening? Or, if you're on a salary, can I hold you against your will any time I want? And it's just "waiting" while I hold you?

YOu're a ******* idiot.

Once again, I came to this forum to debate leftists but I find the real work needed here is to expose many of the fake, self-proclaimed, conservatives for the idiots they are. Idiots like this are a far greater threat to our liberty and society than are most Democrats.
Yes Brother Levant, these are the scrubs that have hijacked the term conservative. This is why true conservatives of conscience formed the Lincoln Project and Republicans for the rule of law.

Note how because this fits with the narrative the media want to push, it's making national headlines.

If this was a white guy, no one would have mentioned it.

Now the racists bigots among us, will say something idiotic like "If he was white, they would not have stopped him!"

.... oh but you are so wrong. See, I did courier delivery for several years, and people did stop me.

The only difference is, I didn't go screaming to the press about how everyone was racists. Why? Because I'm better than you people.

Now the irony is, I was entirely on this guys side at the start.

"My intention was never to go viral," Travis Miller said. "My intention was to cover myself in case he called my employer and said I did something other than what I did."

When he said that... I'm on his side. I thought he was being attacked without cause.

But instead here is what I read.....

“All we want to know is why you’re in here and who gave you the gate code,” the second homeowner said. “That’s all we need to know.”

That is a perfectly legitimate question, and here was his reply.....

Miller responded, “It’s none of your business. I’m going out, that’s where I’m going.”

WRONG ANSWER JERK. Answer the question. I've done it. What is with people these days "I don't have to answer anyone!" bull crap?

Yeah you do have to answer. Stop being a stuck up prick.

Look, all you black people... as long as you keep acting like you are too good to answer simple questions, and endlessly escalate every stupid irrelevant waste of time interaction with your follow human beings....

you are going to keep getting killed... keep getting shot... keep getting treated like crap by those around you, and rightly so.

I've seen numerous people just like this, cop that kind of attitude at work, and then scream and cry how unfair white people are when they don't get promoted, and they are the first to be laid off when things get slow.

You act like that to your fellow people... don't be surprised when the numbers are little low this month, and Miller with the attitude gets laid off. Don't be surprised when Bob the White guy who has only been there a month, but doesn't have an attitude gets promoted over you.

YOUR FAULT. Stop being jerk wad. Answer the question. If this race baiting idiot, had simply said "Jones gave me the number. We delivered an appliance to their house" the entire event would have been 15 seconds and over with.

How do I know this? I've delivered stuff, and had people ask me who I was, how'd I get in there, and what was I doing there.

I answer the questions, because I wasn't a stuck up snobbish prick... and the entire thing was over instantly.

GROW UP. Stop being a prick.

Bullshit.

It is certainly true that the African American community does defend itself against Honky crime with organizations like the Black Gestapo.

Another one to file under "working while black"
"My intention was never to go viral," Travis Miller said. "My intention was to cover myself in case he called my employer and said I did something other than what I did."

The drivers of the truck should had called the police right away. Unlawful blocking the street by the dumb HOA men. What stupid *****. As if people can’t easily get into gated communities especially during the day.

It is certainly true that the African American community does defend itself against Honky crime with organizations like the Black Gestapo.

Since Black Gestapo was a movie....

AND WE'VE BEEN OVER THAT FACT....

I know that you dispute this documentary, but even if the Black Gestapo isn't exactly as portrayed in the film, it still shows the fear of Honky Crime among blacks.
