I’m not an advocate for high taxes. I’m just making the point that is not factual that higher taxes will make everybody leave like the right has on repeat. There are two philosophies for cause and effect. They should be debated

I'm not buying it. I lived in NYC for five years. The socialists are the elitist yuppies harboring white guilt. The immigrants are hard working capitalists. Not all of them, in either case, but it's a trend that's hard to miss.

Regardless, I'll tell you the same thing I tell Democrats when they whine about losing. You need to find a way to appeal to those voters who aren't buying what you're currently selling. Just writing them off is giving up.
He didn't get rid of all of them, and some were added later. In fact, it was a brilliant move by TRUMP! that nailed Hillary to her seat when she complained that he legally paid very little income tax one year. He simply noted that all they had to do to make him pay more was eliminate that break, but they wouldn't do it because her big donors used it too and they wouldn't let her.
Of course there was escape. People could go to other countries… but why would they, it was the most prosperous time in our history. Point being if the economy is good then paying more in taxes can be balanced out by increased revenue
