MAGA politicians chose to do without flood warning alarm rather than to accept money that would make Biden look good.

In 2021, the Biden administration awarded Kerr County $10.2 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds, which could have been used for flood prevention infrastructure. But commissioners, facing political pressure from conservative residents, opted not to pursue a warning system.

At an April 2022 meeting, one citizen called the White House a "criminal treasonous communist government," urging the county to reject the money altogether. Others echoed that sentiment, saying they didn't want the federal government's help.

"We don't want to be bought by the federal government, thank you very much," a resident said. "We'd like the federal government to stay out of Kerr County and their money."

There seem to be many ways the tragic loss of life could have been reduced. We need to find out what could have been done to reduce the loss, and who is responsible for it.

What were the strings attached to the funding?

funding efforts repeatedly stalled, first due to missing mitigation plans.....

And right there is the problem with any proposed federal funding.....The hoops the applicant has to jump through.

It was the same with the BS rural broadband program.....The dems grifted the money away while stalling with ever more requests for "studies" and "plans" that states can ill afford to pay for.

Virginia pretty much said "**** it" while FJB was POTUS, we never got a penny of what was supposedly allocated to Virginia's for rural broadband program.

It's really sad that in today's America there are still people that don't know the difference between "prevention infrastructure" and "warning infrastructure". Depending on what article you read, the warning infrastructure would only cost between 1 and 3 million. But hey, I guess the propagandist need to earn a living as well.

I think MSN has the wrong, bulldog. County commissioners never turn down free money.

Per the linked story: "While the county ultimately kept the funds, they allocated the majority, about $8 million, to sheriff's department upgrades and public employee stipends."

So, they took the money but didn't spend it on anything flood related. If anybody was worried about flooding from the changing climate, they were probably dismissed as scaremongers.

And now the Trump regime is doing to America what these morons did to their county.

you do realize you people are the same way with trump?...
Can you give an example of turning down something that is so obviously needed and could have saved so many lives just because trump supported it?

You do know that the warnings were put out there? The adults didn't know it was going to be a hundred year storm and no amount of money would've told them that either. So why don't you step off those children's grave for a moment and let them be?

The premise is that something could make Biden look good. He was the worst president even surpassing Carter, Pierce and Buchanon.

A complete failure by any account.
