The ride-sharing company Lyft is pledging to donate $1 million to the America Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) in response to President Donald Trump’s immigration ban.

In a letter emailed to customers early Sunday morning, Lyft co-founders John Zimmer and Logan Green announced their decision to donate money to help “defend our constitution.”

The email condemned Trump’s executive order halting the Syrian refugee program and banning entry to all citizens of several Muslim-majority countries.

“Banning people of a particular faith or creed, race or identity, sexuality or ethnicity, from entering the U.S. is antithetical to both Lyft's and our nation's core values,” the co-founders wrote.

"We stand firmly against these actions, and will not be silent on issues that threaten the values of our community.”

How are they defending the constitution by letting in illegals?

Where exactly is allowing people to immigrate into America in the U.S. Constitution.

Liberals keep screaming its in there, but I can't seem to find it in the document?

Can someone help me out?? .....

The Constitution doesn't necessarily have to spell out the rights of people. It has to specifically state the powers of the federal government. The 9th and 10th amendments make this clear. Funny how conservatives knew this under Obama and have forgotten it again under Trump.

All this time I thought the U.S. Constitution was about defending the rights of American citizens?

But you are saying it a document about defending the rights of foreign people.

Learn something new everyday. .....

It's actually about specifically defining the powers of the federal government. If something is not specifically spelled out as a power of the government then the government does not have that power. So since the power to restrict immigration is not given to the president, the president cannot restrict immigration.

How are they defending the constitution by letting in illegals?

Indeed!

How are they defending the Constitution at all?

The 2nd Amendment? Abortion? The Government's right to define Marriage?

The ACLU runs counter to the Constitution on all of those!

Following existing laws is "defending our constitution." Ensuring the security of our nation by extreme vetting is "not being silent on the issues that threaten the values of our community."

Citizens of foreign countries are not endowed with inherent rights to enter this country under our the color of authority or law with our inalienable constitutional rights and bill of rights. They are foreign nationalist not United States citizens (foreigners).
