Looks like Oregon has had enough of PROG-View

Pie in the sky..not going to happen. As a long-time Idaho resident I'd wonder about the pluses and minuses of the move as regards tax revenue and the added burden of maintenance. Not to put too blunt a point on it..southern Oregon is pretty poor.

However...given the high hurdles in the way..just a lot of hot air.

U.S. Constitution, Article IV, Section 3:

New States may be admitted by the Congress into this Union; but no new State shall be formed or erected within the Jurisdiction of any other State; nor any State be formed by the Junction of two or more States, or Parts of States, without the Consent of the Legislatures of the States concerned as well as of the Congress.

the same thing is going on in Virginia.

While a commendable exercise to undertake, it is like plugging a pinhole in a dam.

If any of these far Leftists get elected as President, and/or if they keep the House or retake the Senate too, there will be absolutely no state to hide in, period.

It isn't a secret; they have professed exactly what they intend to do, while trying to convince everyone their actions are benign.

If we stop them now, we should have a few more cycles to right the ship. If not, the whole Democratic party will see this as their opportunity to change everything, and even the Democrats who don't want it will be thrown under the proverbial bus. Also, any GOPer left will move LEFT in congress to survive.

This election is NOT Republican versus Democrat; oh no it is not, it is Socialism versus America. If this is not the hill we need to fight on collectively, then I do not know where that hill is!

Word is Idaho has something in common with Nevada due to California's exodus. Even if Oregon could join Idaho, they're soon to be blue if not already anyway. Nevada is now blue, for the short term anyway, Vegas runs the place. I've lived in Nevada since birth, but if we take this too far add me to Nevada's exodus. Something about over-crowded, disrespect, high taxes, inflation, invasion, stupidity, PROG-think & laziness bugs me.:04:

It will be a long time indeed before Idaho is Blue..LOL! We do have a problem with transplanted Californians..but the majority of them are Right wing. Sadly..while their politics might be right for the local culture..they are very different culturally..which is to say that we don't wear our politics on our sleeves, most of us. Most transplants are from cities and bring their urban lifestyle and expectations to our predominantly rural lives.

I'd take a local Democrat..whose honest differences never stopped him from being there for our community..over a California conservative who shoves his money and his attitude in our faces 24/7!

Just sayin'....

Take away Portland, Eugene, and Corvallis, and you have a republican state.
I feel sorry for the rest of the state.
Have you ever been to Southern Oregon? They warrant your pity...poor...bad unemployment...substance abuse issues and a high percentage of people on SS and Disability.

I feel for them..but I sure wouldn't want to pay for them!

The ACS provides estimates of people with disabilities in all states. This Annual Report shows data for states divided into four “quartiles” to show how states vary for different disability-related topics. In 2015, the state with the lowest percentage of its population having a disability was Utah (9.9%).The state with the highest percentage of disability, West Virginia, was almost twice as high with a percentage of 19.4%. For the most part, higher percentages of disability were clustered in the southern US, around the lower Mississippi river region, with concentrations also high in the states of Maine and Oregon

Lol this forum is hilarious
Divisions are everywhere. It's like revisiting antebellum USA of 1855-60. And the worst of it was the election of Lincoln to the Presidency. His Republican ideas sent the Democrats into orbit, and first thing ya know, ****Ft. Sumpter explodes****

Oregon is for poor radical Lefties that cannot afford Seattle.
The radical lefties came up from California to buy land cheap, and they were right at home in university towns of Portland, Corvallis, Eugene, Salem, et al. At Oregon State University in Corvallis, I had one professor like Joe Biden and others like the best professors who ever lived.

I'd like to give this two stars...

Nobody is seceding from Oregon and I guarantee after this upcoming election Democrats will still control the state
There's some beautiful farms in the nyssa ontario area.

Won't happen, darn.

"So, some counties in the eastern part of Oregon want to leave the state and join Idaho, this is an online petition. Two counties, Douglas County and Josephine County want to join Idaho, leave Oregon. Now, that would give Idaho a border on the ocean, on the Pacific Ocean, but it can't happen no matter what they do. It can't happen because Congress would have to approve, which it wouldn't, and then both houses in the Oregon state legislature in Salem would have to approve, which it wouldn't. So it's not going to happen, but it's pretty amusing to watch it".....Bill O'Reilly 2/19/2020

Ha, by some measure true. I've always liked Grants Pass. Lots of memories passing through, and they're still living in the 60s-70s by some measure. Other than that I don't know the people. One would hope more old school Liberals than PROGS.
