Trump reignites his push to ban mail-in voting after meeting with Putin
In an interview with Fox News host Bret Baier on Friday, Trump relayed that "one of the most interesting things" Putin told him during the summit had to do with the unreliability of mail-in voting."He said: 'Your election was rigged because you have mail-in voting. ... It’s impossible to have mail-in voting and have honest elections,’” Trump said, adding that Putin told him "no country" has mail-in voting.
Trump reignites his push to ban mail-in voting after meeting with Putin
Trump said he and the Russian leader spoke last week about what they see as the problems with mail-in voting. Since then, Trump has pushed again for the U.S. to end the practice.Vlad, whispering sweet nothings in Don's ear, decided to play on trump's obsession with losing the 2020 election. Trump says he will lead 'movement' to end mail-in voting
President Trump said on Monday that that he will lead a movement to get rid of mail-in ballots, claiming, without providing evidence, that it leads to voter fraud.During his condemnation of mail in ballots he said he didn't think any other nation allowed it.
Key points
- According to the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance, 34 countries or territories allow some form of mail-in voting (also known as postal voting).
- Of those 34, 12 countries allow all voters to vote by mail, including Canada, Germany, and South Korea.
Can you imagine a US prez being so susceptible to suggestion that he would say he was going to act on advice given by a dictator who doesn't allow free and fair elections in his country. Even though mail-in ballots have been proven to be safe and secure.
In simple terms, Putin put a thought in trump's head and trump is acting on it.
This is a moment when trump fans need to consider whether they think it is fine and dandy for Putin to be indirectly forming election policy for this government.
