In a buffered system, such as the earth, there is going to be an energy release phase just prior to rapid cooling... can you guess what is happening now?

Mid Latitudes are 10-15 deg below normal and cooling. that energy is being pulled to the poles and released due to a thinning atmosphere.. When we reach near thermal equilibrium/input the pressures causing this will cease and the poles will freeze up rapidly.
