Define "voter ID". I can take any piece of government issued ID to the polling station and and vote. It doesn't even have to be photo ID. Our SIN Cards don't have a photo, and I can use that one for ANYTHING.
The only limit for voting is I can't use my OHIP card as ID, but you can't use your OHIP card as ID for anything. But even a fishing licence is sufficient ID to vote in Canada.
The objections to "voter ID" in the USA is to a super special Voter ID card only issued under special circumstances to special people. The leader of the Texas Democratic Party was refused a Texas voter ID card. THAT's why Republican ideas of voter idea gets shot down every time. A woman who takes her husband's married name can't get a Texas voter ID card, because the name on her birth certificate doesn't match her name on her driver's license.
It's a way of excluding people from certain areas and classes.
