Liz Warren Claims She's More Qualified To Be Sec of Def Because She Has Two Brothers That Served

I wish that nag would STFU
Something I discovered while serving in the military is that just being in the military doesn't make you an expert on military tactics. You need to get proper training to get to the point where you know your job inside and out.
That's one of the many reasons I volunteered for Special Forces.
I found out after 11 years in the military, just how little I knew about military tactics.

Now imagine people with zero modern warfare experience, or training, trying to tell everyone how qualified they are because they know somebody who wore the uniform.

I would kind of agree.... my 11 years as a supply NCO doesn't qualify me to run the Pentagon.

And neither does being a screaming asshole on Fox News.

That Trump is skipping over so many qualified people to get someone who will toady up to him shows how fragile his ego is.

I think you might want to look at his record before you make any assumptions.

He's not a perfumed officer like LtCol Vindman.

Hegsteth has a lot of infantry background, which is essential for military tactics.

But the number one reason Trump picked Pete was because he's not already in the loop of the Swamp.

They haven't gotten to him yet.

I dunno. I only made PFC in my three years, but I knew Vietnam was going to be a huge mistake.
You probably realized that getting off the aircraft.

I knew Somalia was a mistake when I got off that C5.

Everyone but us were driving around in armored vehicles.

Trump’s choice for Defense secretary stuns the Pentagon, raises questions about the Fox News host’s experience

". . .Mark Cancian, a senior advisor at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, said Hegseth’s lack of senior national security experience makes it more difficult to get Senate confirmation.

“I think Trump was tired of fighting with his secretaries of Defense and picked one who would be loyal to him,” Cancian said. . . "

The pick is unconventional, but I think a lot of people are overreacting simply because he's not your conventional Pentagon establishment pick. The man served in the Armed Forces for 20 years, including two wars. He received two bronze stars. He has college degrees from both Harvard and Princeton. I fail to see how he's unqualified just because he hasn't been a career bureaucrat or a four star general who never once fired a weapon in battle. If anything, he can relate to the rank and file better than any of those people could. There's a lot of waste in the military, a lot of bureaucracy. The Afghanistan withdrawal was a monumental embarrassment. The establishment picks haven't been doing such a great job, so maybe something different is what it needs.

I admit I have only heard him speak once but he came across as a lunatic who had been allowed out for an afternoon before going back to isolation .
More of a bullying Sargeant Major than a potential General .
Needs careful monitoring -- possibly dreams he is Rambo2.0 .

The generals on the ground could have told Washington, "Let us fight, or bring us home."

The whole premise of the war was a ridiculous lie; the "domino theory".
