‘Living fossil’ rediscovered in Pacific Ocean after 273 million years

Odd that you think a fish is the pinnacle of evolution.
Here is another fact that you didn't know:

This species is more closely related to humans than to all the other living fish (except lungfish).
Well then you have them over for Thanksgiving if you believe that.

Meanwhile the long list of species that has not changed over millions of years keeps growing.

Because we all know this is the pinnacle of evolution so therefore it looks identical to it’s kin 273 million years ago.

Odd after 270 MM years it does not have opposable thumbs or has learned to harvest and process minerals to build a durable home for itself. Does evolution reach the deep ocean?
Odd that you would presume evolution directs toward human-like anatomy or development of industry.

Odd what they teach at the Jimmy Swaggert madrassah.

Evolution: it's an inexorable force that acts upon all living creatures to improve - except when it doesn't
Actually, no. You offered the worst example of the Jimmy Swaggert'ized version of evolution.

Sorry, but your example defines a fundamental misunderstanding of biological evolution. Evolution is not directional. It does not advance inexorably from dumb to smart or from simple to complex. The impression you have that it does so is merely (again) the human tendency to impose our own biases of social progress onto a natural world that does not share them.

Sometimes evolution does makes things more complex (bacteria to annelid worm, for example). But sometimes it makes things less complex (free living organisms to degenerate parasites, for thousands of examples). Most of the time it does neither. The only direction evolution always moves is towards “more fit.” And since the definition of fitness is dependent on and changes with the environment, it is a constantly moving target

Syntropy vs entropy

So evolution makes "things" happen; no direction, no rhyme or reason. It just does

Well, either evolution makes things happen or you need to explain why your gods are such poor designers that their designs are so often failures.

Why would the gods create mankind out of dust 6,000 years ago, give him sentience, a special place in the universe, and then give animals such similar abilities—just at a lower “wattage”?

Why did the gods try and fool you by making it seem as though we evolved our characteristics from animals similar to us, who share 99.9% of our DNA, instead of designing humans being qualitatively different. Why would the gods do this, particularly when the bible says man will have dominion over all beasts?

I thought you were going to provide the complete fossil record of Adam & Eve and their offspring. That would go a long way to supporting the notion of a 6,000 year old planet and supernatural, godly design.

How does that work?

It was explained earlier that, “The only direction evolution always moves is towards “more fit.” And since the definition of fitness is dependent on and changes with the environment, it is a constantly moving target”.

As you probably have not discerned, the oceans are not subject to the extremes of environment that affect the planet’s surface. Changes in environment therefore do not exert a similar “fitness for survival” pressure to adapt.

Are the gods playing a cruel joke on you by leaving the existence of a marine animal millions of years old to confound the notion of a 6,000 year old planet?

Why did the gods invent only one talking snake?

Why hasn't this creature "evolved" in over 270MM years?

How do you know a rock is 273 million years old?
Ah. A man told you.

There are many ways to date rocks. How do you know the planet is 6,000 years old? You read it in a book.

How do you date a rock?
