Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels must be pleased with excessive private property taxation, the EPA, eminent domain abuses, and civil forfeiture. All four are transforming theory into reality:

The theory of the Communists may be summed up in the single sentence: Abolition of private property.

American homeowners know about excessive taxation. Every American knows how the EPA and eminent domain abuses work. Civil forfeiture is the new kid on the Karl Marx’s block:

Civil forfeiture is when police and prosecutors seize property, cars or cash from someone they suspect of wrongdoing. It differs from criminal forfeiture cases, where prosecutors typically must prove a person is guilty or reach a settlement before freezing funds or selling property. In civil forfeiture, authorities don’t have to prove guilt, file charges or obtain a conviction before seizing private property. Critics say it is a process ripe for abuse, and one which leaves citizens little means of fighting back.

XXXXX

In 1985, the U.S. Department of Justice created its Asset Forfeiture Fund. One year later, the fund -- which holds the proceeds from seized property and is available to be divvied out to law enforcement agencies -- brought in $93.7 million. In 2008, the amount had ballooned to $1.6 billion. In 2013, it reached $6.3 billion.

Excessive taxation on private property can be reined in by overhauling the way public education is funded. The majority of state and local property tax money goes to pay for the corrupt education system. A good start would be shutting down the Department of Education, and limiting public education to teaching the three R’s and nothing more.

The EPA can be abolished the same way it was created —— BY EXECUTIVE ORDER.

NOTE: President Nixon signed EO 11738, yet he was driven out of office for political dirty tricks when the EPA is the worst thing he ever did. Just so I’m not misunderstood, I think Nixon was pretty good on balance. Every good president is guilty of a few transgressions. President Reagan signed the first amnesty for illegal aliens disaster. Democrats destroy the country deliberately, while I’m pretty sure neither RR nor Nixon saw the damage their missteps would bring down on the American people.

Confiscating private property

Eminent domain abuses can be stopped at the state level. After Kelo v. City of New London a few states did pass some laws that shielded private ownership from eminent domain abuses.

Crooked cops

Civil forfeiture makes the crooked cops of olde look good. Today, the country has an army of overpaid “honest” cops, dedicated law enforcement officials like Eric Holder and Lois Lerner, AND civil forfeiture which looks a lot like crooked cops in my book.

I remember when it was fashionable to say “Higher pay for government employees would eliminate corruption.” How’s that one been working out!

Finally, America’s early history shows that limiting the size of government did not eradicate corruption in government. Limited government did keep the amount of corruption in government at manageable levels. Instead of talking about reining in big government concerned Americans should talk about limiting big corruption.

Today, the country has an army of overpaid “honest” cops, dedicated law enforcement officials like Eric Holder and Lois Lerner,

Here’s an example of a dedicated law enforcement official in action:

Congressman calls DOJ Lois Lerner criminal investigation 'a joke' after Holder deputy says he DOESN'T KNOW who's in charge

Attorney General Eric Holder has resisted calls for a special prosecutor in the IRS tea-party targeting case, insisting that his agency should handle it

Rep. Jim Jordan hijacked a hearing about marijuana policy Friday to grill a Holder deputy about the investigation's progress

House Republicans have tried for 11 months to find out who's in charge of the investigation and how many prosecutors are involved

David A. O’Neil, acting assistant attorney general for the DOJ's criminal division, testified that he didn't know

Parenthetically, Rep. Jim Jordan is on the special committee investigating the Benghazi coverup. I hope either he or Chairman Gowdy zero in on who gave the military the order to stand down while our guys were fighting for their lives. Nothing else matters.
