Liberal Irony: Social Darwinism

Does anyone else find it ironic that liberals object to social darwinism? Aren't liberals supposed to be great proponents of Darwinian evolution? So, what's so bad about actually implementing it economically? If you're too weak and stupid to make enough money to survive, then you *deserve* to die. It's that simple.

Liberals are opposed to social darwinism so they in effect prefer a society based on survival of the weakest. Does anyone think this is a good thing?
