I just returned from a three-week tour of China where most of the focus was on natural wonders. But, I did spend my first three days in Beijing enjoying the sights and historical wonders.

Yes, my GF was born in Canton, worked for international companies in Beijing, got her Bachelors in Philadelphia and ran her own business in Tokyo for 17-years before she came back to the US to run another business.

It is striking how far China has come in the past 30 years...
From a backward country, many times inferior to the USSR in all respects, the Chinese have turned into a prosperous power, one of the world's technological leaders.
All they had to do was crush the liberal scum on Tiananmen Square.

The USSR made roughly the same accomplishment. Even more, from a backward country devastated by civil war, in the same thirty years the USSR became a superpower, defeating the forces of the entire bourgeois Europe led by Germany. Had it not been for the enormous human and material losses of that war, one can only imagine what heights the first socialist state would have reached by today....
