Do you think these results may have something to do with the least friendly destinations being dirt poor and corrupt beyond comparison? Perhaps native jealousy towards visitors from wealthier countries plays a big part in how friendly these countries are.

yeah , dirt poor , jealousy , I'd say Mexico would be unfriendly although I was only in Mexico a total of 2 hours as I was stuck in traffic leaving Tijuana Mexico .
