Leaders of the Democratic and Republican Parties Are Getting Excited

The leaders of both parties might soon see one of their dreams come true, they could be rid of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her pesky need to serve her constituents after the November elections.

Every ten years, states across the country go through a process called reapportionment. Based on the previous census, states are assigned seats in the House of Representatives relative to their current population.

This time around, there’s a strong chance that New York could lose a congressional seat. Right now, no one knows which seat will be on the chopping block. But the GOP and the Democratic establishment know which New York congressional district they want erased.

Fortunately, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her team aren’t going to stand by and watch that happen. That’s why they’re going above and beyond the call for a political campaign, and launching a census outreach operation to encourage folks across New York’s 14th to complete the census.

An under-count in the census isn’t just a problem for congressional reapportionment. That final number is factored into funding for everything from roads to schools to social services. Failing here could result in critical resources for marginalized communities being spread dangerously thin.

This didn’t happen by accident. A huge part of the reason folks aren’t filling out the census is because of misinformation to assure a low count in certain districts. People at risk of not filling out the census are often very difficult to reach by traditional means like advertising, which makes building a strong census outreach operation, with in-person organizing so important. So, AOC's team must do, again, what they have done best in the past, get people in her district organized.

Due to these and others issues regarding an accurate census count, leaders of the Democratic establishment and those of the Republican Party are all giddy with hope that Ocasio-Cortez’s census volunteers fail to complete a full census count in her own 14th congressional district. (Status Quo Joe (Biden) would be ecstatic to see AOC gone, especially if he's allowed to win this November.)

AOC’s determination to serve the interests of her constituents over those of the billionaire class and Big Business has been a thorn in the sides of both parties’ leaders for nearly two years. Also, conservative and centrist voters hate her for her attempts to end the status quo in D.C. and accomplish the unthinkable by returning the control of our government to the voters.

What will happen if New York loses a congressional seat?

Yannow, when she was elected she cried about not being able to afford an apartment in NY and DC on a Congressional salary and now she's living in a $1MM apartment in DC.

What happened? Did she get a raise?
