A mob of thousands had just smashed and overwhelmed barricades and the thin blue line of uniformed officers sworn to protect the Capitol of the United States of America. And in doing so they savagely beat, tasered, and sprayed with bear spray....those same uniformed officers.
The officer's own earpiece comm-lines were relaying the direness of the threat and the imminence of the danger....with distressed shouts of "Officers down!" "We've lost the line" ....clearly heard by others on the comm line.
The circumstances were dire and threatening. And growing worse by the minute.
Which brings us to that fateful barricade just feet away from sheltering House Representatives. A barricade locked and enforced to specifically prevent that same savage crowd from doing to the Representatives what they were doing to uniformed police just yards away.
And despite strained and shouted --but clear and forceful --- commands to back-away, to do not enter, to leave the area.....that same savage crowd battered and battered and battered at the barrier. Until a breach was effected and the first of the attackers --the tip-of-the-spear -- leaped into the breach to get at the defending fficers.....or.....to open the door and allow her co-conspirators to follow in to re-enforce her attack.
For that clear criminal action with intent to harm......the perp paid with her life.
And notably, her wounding......relieved the threat, and caused the rest of the attackers to retreat. Clearly, a good shoot. With good effect. The dire threat was blunted.
May Ashli Babbitt's family find peace. It wasn't necessarily their fault their daughter, sibling, grandaughter, believed the fabrications of Don Trump or went down the QAnon rabbit-hole.
Ashli is dead because of......Ashli.
