Looks as though Kerry expects Israel to buckle under his firm leadership.

1. Let’s make a deal: According to Arab reports picked up by the Times of Israel, John Kerry will propose the following tradeoff: The Palestinians will recognize Israel as a Jewish state, while Israel accepts the 1967 borders as the basis for negotiations:

“The coming weeks will be difficult for the Palestinian and Israeli sides, since they will need to make tough decisions,” a source told Al-Watan. “On the one hand, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will need to live with a text speaking of the 1967 borders, and the Palestinians, for their part, will need to live with a text speaking of Israel’s Jewishness.”

Unfair trade-off. The 1967 borders would endanger Israel's security, but calling Israel Jewish--or purple, for that matter--wouldn't affect the Palestinians in any way.

Yes, very stupid. However Israel can at least say she did what was asked, and more, in order to continue the peace talks. That is what was asked of Israel. Not that I agree with it, but of course Israel is too scared to stand up for herself and scared of negative opinions on her. That is why Israel is so vilified. Because Israel is not the Israel of old where she was strong, stood up for herself, was a force to be reckoned with. Now Israel is like a wimp, too worried about opinion, lets down her own people by evicting Jews from their homes, etc. Israel has got G-d on her side and should safeguard her citizens' interests, not act like a wimp.

Why not make the deal the 1919 borders then Israel will be the winners, or the 1947 borders which will mean that Israel will win again. But no politician can demand 1967 borders as none have ever existed, and Israel will point this out as the reason they will not talk about anything until the borders are in place. As set out in RES 242

Not really as they will not be able to claim innocent civilians when they are shot while engaged in terrorism.
