Trump went from saying the Epstein Birthday letter didn't exist, to that wasn't his signature on it.

Which raises the question, why would anybody forge such a letter, when Donald Trump was still years away from his first suggestion at running for political office.

The investigation was prompted by a flagged national security threat.
