Where does the 600,000 million dollars, yes 600 thousand million dollars is 600 billion, the Defense dept gets in its budget go each year? Contractors that pay their employees 10 times what our soldiers make?
Yes. speaking as someone whom once served our nation, it is a shame that Contractors make more than our service men and women. And some of the excessive money spent on Contractors........could go to Soldiers, through the Veterans Administration, and other benefits.
Military personnel are not Mercenaries. That was a point brought up when I was in the Gulf. Pay can increase, most certainly. And our Military Service Personnel, current.....and former ; deserve better than what they are getting. Those injured, and whom require Veterans Administration assistance - deserve the assistance without harassment, molestation, and delay. YOU DO not deploy service men and women abroad, in harms way - and when they get hurt or injured , give them the "run around" when they return home.
HIDDEN projects, safety bases underground in the middle of no where for congress critters to survive the big one? Black, off the books projects that have nothing to do with the military...???
CIA/FBI/NSA doing things no one knows about? Airplanes that are defaulty and we'll never use....
what the hell are they doing with all of this money, year after year after year after year after year...
90% of that humongous defense budget should be going towards the military, for goodness sake...but it isn't even coming close....
The Military need to be left alone, and a war sized military needs financed each budget cycle.
To downsize the Military, then when a conflict or war starts up, beg for volunteers to deploy aboard is ridiculous. To scramble to come up with funds, personnel, and equipment that should already be there - is even more ignorant.
What is even more ignorant, is receiving volunteers for a conflict, then after it is over - downsize the Military and "Kick the volunteers" out of the military. "Let Go" of those whom wanted to make the Military their home......to make the Military a career. Those whom have 6 or more years service, "let go" due to post war downsizing.
When I enlisted my last time ( I have about 11 years Military Service ), I had to get "A medical waiver" for a hearing loss in my left ear. As with prior practice in the US Military, had I got to 16 or 17 years of service, and went to reenlist the last time, I would not have been able to. My "Medical Waiver" that got approved two time previously, would not be allowed this last time - and thus the US Government saves on medical and retirement benefits.
Disheartening is it not. Morale breaking.....is it not.
Political games, played at the expense of hard working and courageous American Service men and women. Those American service personnel whom braved " deployment" to save and keep safe a Republic. To harm those, whom harmed us on "9/11". The US Government is thanking some of them, by saying "Get out."
I served. Home and abroad, and I am a Combat Veteran. I know and understand the tight knit family that Military personnel are. I understand teamwork and camaraderie. I know "you watch my back, I will watch yours." Few people understand what it takes, what one give away and sacrifices to Serve In the US Military.
Service men and women are a great investment.
And they are not expendable, nor are they to be used like pawns on a chess board.
