As a former teacher, shit like this just pisses us off to no end. Those schools are teaching math and science to kids who can read and speak English. Whether they learn or not, is up to them. The problem is when people blame the teachers, you should walk a mile in their shoes first. I am a native-born American, but I once taught in a school where 65% of the students were not even American citizens. I had students in my classroom from mountain villages in Burma where no one speaks their language outside of their village. There were no translators, so how do you expect those students to learn?

I had students from Cuba, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Burma, Liberia, Sierra Leone, and half a dozen other countries that I can't even remember. The "American" students were mostly illegal Mexicans or children thereof, and Puerto Rican transplants that barely spoke English because their parents only spoke Spanish to them. Oh, and another thing! The Mexican kids hated the Puerto Rican kids and they both hated the Cubans. American black kids were despised by the African kids. To top it off, some genius decided to make it an all-boys school! Now, I would just love for you to evaluate my performance as a teacher with that type of student clientele. Our school was the worst middle school in the state which actually spoke well for some of the other middle schools as they didn't suck nearly as bad as we did.

Stop and consider who we are trying to educate.

Undocumented people get paid in cash under the table. Ther are no taxes paid, other than sales tax. I saw an article just a few days ago about a new trend. A guy was robbed in California last week of $3000 he withdrew from a bank to pay his landscaping company workers as he exited the bank. Now tell me that he wasn't paying those workers in cash for a reason!
