Every state is different. Know your knife laws!

For example...

Google:

Automatic knives (switchblades and OTF knives) are generally illegal to possess and carry in New York State. Under NY Penal Law § 265.01, they are classified as per se weapons, and simple possession is considered a misdemeanor. NYC.

However, there is a specific exemption for licensed sportsmen: Licensed Hunters & Fishermen: You may possess and carry an automatic knife if you have a valid NY hunting, trapping, or fishing license, but only while actively engaged in those activities or traveling directly to and from them. American Knife and Tool Institute

Spring-Assisted Knives: Courts in New York have previously classified some spring assisted folding knives (where the blade opens via a manual flipper and spring mechanism) as switchblades, so they carry a significant legal risk and can result in arrest.

Knife Rights

For exact statute details, you can review New York State Penal Law on Criminal Possession of a Weapon. For a broader breakdown of state-by-state regulations, visit the Knife & Tool Institute's New York Knife Laws overview

Here in Toledo there is an ordinance against switchblades, but Ohio law superseded it and allows concealed and open carry.

The 2nd amendment applies.
