Why did Trump run on releasing the Epstein files OP?

I suspect it primarily has to do with the fact that Trump is a populist, and a very large portion of the people have already figured out what the hell is going on.


After the Wikileaks occurred revealing the corruption within the DNC in the first Trump/Hillary election, open source investigators speculated that many of the code words had to do with child sexual assault and trafficking among D.C.'s elites.

While powerful players put out a lot of outrageous disinformation to muddy the truth about what was in that Wikileaks release, there definitely seemed to be a kernel of truth in them.

The whole narrative around the shooting at that pizzeria stank like more lies and disinformation, including the connections to law enforcement and other actions of the shooter. . . who is now dead from another incident apparently.

. . . and then came Qanon, which recycled much of the apparently true information in the DNC Wikileaks release to spin a counter-revolutionary narrative.

Thus, when the last election came about, it is clear the folks in Trump's orbit wanted to tap into that anger around this issue to mobilize support.
