Tommy Robinson fails to get U.S. visa | Reuters

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - British far-right activist Tommy Robinson has not been granted a U.S. visa to meet with Republican lawmakers in Washington this week, an organizer of the meeting said on Monday.

Robinson is the founder of the English Defence League, or EDL, which in the past has staged violent demonstrations against Islam.

He was jailed by British authorities in 2013 for using a passport in someone else’s name to travel to the United States from Britain. He was later jailed on a separate charge of contempt of court, but was released in August.

Daniel Pipes, president of the conservative Philadelphia-based Middle East Forum which invited Robinson to the United States, said the British activist recently applied for a visa at the U.S. Embassy in London but now realizes it “will take a while” for him to be allowed into the country.

Robinson had planned to attend an event focusing on Islam which seven conservative Republican members of the U.S. House of Representatives have convened for Wednesday.

Fifty-five British lawmakers from both major political parties recently wrote to U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo requesting that Washington ban Robinson from visiting the United States. They said they were concerned he would use a U.S. visa to launch a fundraising tour in the country.

Well done America. His money making dreams are now in tatters.

I find it astonishing that Republican members would share a platform with him. No legitimate British politician would ever dream of doing so.

Perhaps they could invite Mr Duke as a replacement ?

That US (I'm assuming Republican) Lawmakers want to meet with a guy who tried to get into the US on someone else's passport, shows just how fickle and stupid these people are.

They shout "we don't like illegals", well that's exactly what Lennon was.

Hey Tommy, Tommy! Tommy, Tommy, Tommy Tommy Robinson.

Remember that Tommy Robinson is some other guy, and that Lennon decided to use the name "Tommy Robinson" to annoy the real Tommy Robinson.

That's how pathetic the guy is.

Yes, according to the report they were republicans but it doesnt name them. I read that he stood to earn £1m from speaking engagements so this will cause him much distress. Its quite chilling that there is so much money in America to promote hate.

Legit politicians are so legit! As Europe is invaded by low IQ rapists and murderers from the Middle East and Africa who vote for them. :p

Perhaps they could invite Mr Duke as a replacement ?

I just watched a Dr. Duke vid. Is there something he stated that was inaccurate?

It's bizarre as well. The guy isn't going to tell them anything they haven't made up themselves already. It's merely a way of paying for someone to spread their form of hate elsewhere.

David Duke is generally inaccurate, using facts badly, etc.
