Kash Patel, trump's pick to head the FBI, is threatening a silly lawsuit against a former White House colleague for remarks she made about him. Patel is a public figure, and he is fair game when it comes to detractors. Right wingers from Limbaugh to Carlson to Hannity have made their fortunes on remarks about public figures. It seems that Patel is as thin skinned as trump, and his threat based on nothing more than his hurt feelings is a good indication of the petty way he could be expected to run the FBI.

And yet the (empty) threat of a lawsuit got it into the MSM "news"...didn't it?

That's how this game is played.

Just like the gov't bringing a legal case against you that they know they can't win...they'll bankrupt you in lawyer fees defending yourself.

Get used to it.

They're taking their cue from the McSavior -- hurt their feelings and they'll come after you with everything they have.

You do realize that public figures CAN sue for defamation, right? They just have a higher bar to clear (they have to prove intent to harm (Malice) (SCOTUS: Hustler v Falwell)). So no, public figures are not "fair game" when it comes to defamation.

First, they gotta prove it wasn't true. That's a step too far for Patel.

She called Patel a 'delusional liar' and accused him of lying about intelligence. She also accused him of 'making things up on operations' to the point where he was accused of putting 'the lives of Navy SEALs at risk in an operation when it came to Nigeria.'

Sue the hell out of that *****, that's slander and liable. News commentators should be responsible for the lies they tell.

Silly lawsuits are right up your alley. You should be cheering him on.

If a delusional old ***** who can't remember what day or even what dress can get an 80 million dollar settlement from Trump for simply denying a rape allegation than I suspect Patel may actually have some leverage.

That's a bar that every libel or slander suit has to clear, no matter who the complainant is.

She seems to have witnesses to back her up. The Clintons were accused of murdering people and selling drugs. Quit whining.

Who the hell does Kash Patel think he is? Everyone knows only Democrats are allowed to launch frivolous lawsuits.

She didn't defame him.

Voicing one's opinion about another person's fitness for office is not defamation.

Otherwise Biden and Harris could sue everyone with an R after their name.
