Karmelo Anthony, the Texas student athlete who was charged with stabbing a football star from a rival high school to death — and then raised $600,000 in donations — is set to face trial this week.
The killing of Austin Metcalf — who died in his twin brother’s arms in Frisco, Texas, at a track meet in April 2025 — sparked an outpouring of grief.
But what came next turned the case into a national sensation. The suspect, Anthony, retained a big-name Dallas lawyer, and the family started raising money from donation site GiveSendGo.
A family spokesman said last year that the money would go to “Stand with us in the fight against white supremacy.”
The case kicked off a major racial fracas online — with donations pouring in to defend Anthony, who is black.

Jury selection is slated to get underway Monday morning in the case accusing Anthony of killing Metcalf after the pair got into a dispute over seating at a high school track and field competition in Frisco on April 2, 2025.

Anthony is charged with first-degree murder but since he was underage at the time of the alleged stabbing, he doesn’t face the death penalty or even life in prison.
The accused murderer has been released from jail and is under house arrest — a fact which Metcalf’s father, Jeff, has publicly opposed, earning him a gag order in the case.
If convicted, he’ll face between five and 99 years behind bars.


Commentary:
Really? If this was a white student stabbing a black student to death, would the shouts and echos of "RACISM RACISM RACISM" have faded away yet?
Meanwhile, The parents are using the defense fund and giving up their son to live the life of luxury, hopefully they don't have any more kids to advance their ambitious endeavors.Imagine how used the donors must feel.
Let's be honest. Anyone with a modicum of intelligence can realize that if the roles were reversed, there would be no donations for his defense and the lefty liberal politicians, and their ilk would be screaming for the kid's head. Taking race out of this, just look at the facts. The first guy attends a sporting event armed and then proceeds to place himself in area where he knows he will create an antagonistic response. When confronted by guy number two, he responds by pulling the weapon and ending a young man's life. Pretty clear.
Texas law allows Anthony to be tried as an adult, because he was 18 at the time the killing took place and he faces a possible sentence ranging from five years to life in prison if convicted. The death did not meet the qualifications to be charged as a capital murder, and because of Anthony’s age, the death penalty was never an option in the case. “

The thing about this case that will be ignored by the usual suspects is that Anthony did ask Matthews or whatever his name is, not to put his hands on him and Matthews chose to lay hands on him anyway.

But we are going to read all the poor pitiful picked on white guy and violent black thug posts coming from the racists. The ame people who cheered Rittenhouse, saying he was defending himself, the same people who called Daniel Penny a hero because Neely was supposed to be a threat, are now talking about how wrong it was for Anthony to defend himself, and most certainly the two big white dudes walking up on Anthony could not be a threat to him.

The same people who do not question why 17-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse drove nearly 20 miles to a town he did not live in, with a gun he was not legally supposed to have, who was acting like security but was not authorized to do so, and was out past curfew for his age, are now questioning Anthony.
