He brought a knife to a track meet and intentionally went to where he knew he was not welcome.

I ran track in HS….probably went to 30 meets in 3 years.

Why bring up what happened during a riot? where Rittenhouse was assaulted and actually chased?
This case was completely different. Rittenhouse was wrong IMO for going out there with a weapon but since the city was burning and being looted... it makes sense a young person might feel they need to do something about it.

Karmelo on the other hand did not really need to bring a knife to the event or be inside the other teams tent.
There was no ongoing riot to respond to.

Rittenhouse drove in from another town and had guns he was not legally supposed to have. He wa not invited or authorized to be security.

According to the story, Anthony was trying to get out of the rain in the nearest tent he could find. H wa not bothering anyone, and those two white kids did not have to approach him.

The prosecution made certain to get the blacks out of th jury. So Anthony is going to be tried by an all-white jury in MAGA Texas in 2026.

Hopefully, he only gets life in prison and not the death penalty.

A minor cannot receive the death penalty. The harshest sentence they can receive is life in prison with eligibility for parole after 40 years. After 40 years, they may be considered for release, but the victim will still be gone forever.

Jury selection is not based on race. It begins with a random pool of citizens, and then both sides can remove a limited number of jurors using what are called peremptory challenges. These are meant to reduce bias, but they also introduce an element of chance in who ends up on the final jury.

I’ve heard claims that many of the jurors in this case are people of color, which simply means they are not white. However, nothing is confirmed about the racial makeup of the jury, except that three Black potential jurors were eliminated. That should not make a difference anyway. If we reach a point in this country where a jury must be a certain race, then justice is most likely dead. That would be a point of tribalism where whoever is in your “tribe” is always innocent.

That is not how to run a multicultural, multiracial nation. The way to run a fair trial is for jurors to take their duty seriously. Anyone unable to do that should not be a juror.
