June 2025 inflation: 2.7%

It really gives a new perspective when these things one hears about in the political news start showing up as a line item on the bill.
So clearly this is the first time he's being hit with a tariff. You're being hit too you just don't know it. Amazon wanted to put tariff next to each product to show you how much Trump's tariffs are costing you but Trump threatened them.

  • After the initial White House criticism, Trump personally called Jeff Bezos. Following the conversation, Amazon clarified that the idea of displaying tariff costs had been considered by a team for its low-cost "Amazon Haul" site but was never approved and would not happen.
  • Trump's follow-up: Trump later told reporters that Bezos was "terrific" and had "solved the problem very quickly," saying he "did the right thing".
Other retailers and companies have also pushed back against Trump's tariff policies. In May 2025, Trump threatened toy company Mattel with a 100% tariff after its CEO said tariffs would cause prices to rise.

Sort of reminds me of when Trump fired the person who released the monthly job numbers. Trump can't fire Bezos but he sure can threaten him.

Aren't you a big 1st amendment advocate?
They can do what they want. Trump needs to stay out of it. It is going to cost more, that is why we need to buy domestically.

I actually sell the Made in America brand. It sucks compared to the UK product I sell. AND, the American company only gives me 30% off where the UK company gives me 60% off

So I hope all my customers in manufacturing don't switch to the inferior American made version of what I sell.

Chances are they will just pay more. In November tariff goes away but the company I work with is raising their prices 10%. So you won't see the tariffs but you will pay them. And so far none of the companies I sell to have complained too much about the added costs. It is what it is.

Funny the one who complained is a Federal Government agency.

June 2025 inflation 2.7%, up 0.3% from 2.4% in May, as per expectations.

Boy those tariffs... they're killing us.

Gotta say, though -- with graphs like this, you'd think inflation spiked in June.
They sure are trying.

Revised down to 2%, and GDP revised UP to 3.3%

No it means he wants to make sure the government isn’t getting charged by a bogus claim of tariffs and justify your price increase, kudos to your customer.

Did you hear this?

President Trump’s trade war suffered a big setback with many of his administration’s tariffs ruled illegal by a federal appeals court last Friday, opening up the potential for billions of dollars in trade duties needing to be refunded to businesses and throwing into question trade deals struck by the White House with other nations.

I did not see the inflation revision...?
There wasn’t really a revision. They’re quoting a separate metric and not the traditional measures of inflation like CPI or PCE.
