But here's the short version. Jephthah the Gileadite says that he will offer the first thing that he meets when he gets home if God will let him slaughter the Ammonites. Well rest assured, the first thing that he meets coming out of his door when gets home is his young daughter. But, hey, he swore an oath to Yahweh, and you just have to fulfill those things, given how insecure Yahweh is.
