Judge rules dem candidate who won Minnesota House seat ineligible due to residency requirements

Doesn't matter where his family is. Every Congressional rep usually has a residence in and around DC because they stay there most of the time. I happen to know Kentucky's Senators own homes in Bowling Green and Louisville while spending most of their time in DC. As long as Schiff has an address where he sometimes stays in California, he is good constitutionally. I have lived in Georgia, South Carolina and Virgina while maintaining my residence in Florida because of the military. Congress can do the same.

You do you think George Washington was a resident of New York when he was elected President because that is where the capitol was?
It is not a matter of owning two homes. Their primary residence has to be in the state they represent. Schiff claims primary residency in MD.

My source is in the thread. You are welcome to provide a source that proves it wrong, moron.
You are right, I am wrong on this. I do think on reading the report I believe he can safely argue as to his legal status to represent CA, based on a double residency allowance that I know congresscritters once had. However, I do not know if that is still actually law.

That is where he spends the most time. Irrelevant for Constitutional purposes.
You can only have one PRIMARY residence or do you have a problem understanding what primary means? It has multiple connotations, not the least of which a senator has to be a resident of the state he represents. SMFH, try again.

Once again CA does not understand the law. He will have a fit when the Judge rules for the dem.

Primary is a term for tax purposes in most cases. It is where you spend the most time. Almost every member of Congress has a home/apartment/condo in the DC area. This is just a pathetic attempt at gotcha politics. There is nothing that can be done unless the Seante votes him out in January. The people of California sure don't give a shit because they elected him to the Senate. I hate Schumer with every ounce of my being for his politics, but on this one I have to side with him. You are just acting like a liberal on this because you don't like it and can't do a damned thing about it.

That not really the question.

If a congress critter has a primary residence in the state where he or she got elected, that is as it’s supposed be. If that same critter has a residence near DC then the second residence is not her/his PRIMARY residence.

As the word itself suggests, there can be only one primary residence.

You are partially correct, nonetheless, that having another residence near the Capitol is not a Constitutional issue. It could be a (possible) criminal issue on the filing of tax returns, however.
