They don't pass laws to ban free speech. Why are you being so disingenuous to even suggest anyone would overtly try that? The Biden Administration expressed its displeasure in the MSM reporting negative views about Biden directly to the networks. The government has been forming alliances with leftwing media to suppress anything which it deems damaging. Or did you think it purely a coincidence that for the past decade, all suppression of dialog has come from the Left, all manipulations of elections have come from the Left, the order to attack school mothers for questioning their child's education has come from the Left, all accusations of covert threats upon society have come from the Left. The examples are endless.
Everything the Left is focusing on these days is to FUNDAMENTALLY CHANGE AMERICA in PROFOUND ways. That supposes that there is something fundamentally WRONG with America, based on the promotion of victimizer and victim. Everything the GOP are focused on is basically preserving what our Founders intended and set up for us. Truthfully, the only thing we really need protection from being victimized by is radicalized socialist leftwing ideology which is as foreign to our way of life as a $4.00 dollar bill trying to make normal people out now as the "victimizers" (white privilege) so that democrats can tell everyone else that you're the "victims."
Frankly, the democrat party would be LOST if it didn't have some group to tell it was the victim of something (thus needing democrats).
Really? How many MONTHS did that take? Most of them end up getting charged with mere misdemeanors. Meantime, the REAL intent has been performed, hoping to put the fear of God into people scaring them to never oppose the government on anything ever again just as the democrats have tried to scare all future GOP candidates into never opposing them legislatively. That is, after all, the real intended message to these people to say: "Look what we did to Trump, so, no one ever try to be like him again making government accountable to the people or you will end up like him," just as they've tried to send the same message to the people who were at the Capitol, that if you ever dare question an election again, we'll ruin your lives.

The details of what is being looked for, what they can and cannot look for is contained in the warrant.

The FBI DID NOT raid his house.... They called a d let the secret service know 45 minutes or so, ahead of the search and seizure.
The search began at around 10am, not at 5 am like protocol requires on other searches.
They did not wear their FBI marked windbreakers, they were in plain clothes.
They did not yield and flaunt their rifles.
They did not bash the door down....they were let in to his residence.
They did not make the warrant public for publicity against the former president, the search warrant was sealed. Trump is who made it public and is using it for his own publicity.
The safe was cracked, not busted in to, by a safe cracker the FBI brought with them.

So Biden had no idea his Administration was about to provoke a Constitutional crisis and take the unprecedented step of raiding a former President.
He gets an inventory list of what was taken by the FBI....
Which could give us more insight.
Trump's lawyer said they got 12 more cases of records etc, that they seized....he has a list the FBI gave them.
it was not his DOJ, there is a separation of power....with all presidents, unless directly involved.
Trump broke that separation and believed the DOJ were his personal lawyers to do what he pleased! Thank God he is gone!

Probably. Because Biden is doing what presidents are supposed to do, hands off the DoJ. Trump was incapable of doing that, his DoJ was “his”.
