Judge nixes effort to block Confederate statue's removal, Sessions should be outraged

What an ugly people we are turning into. The American left makes the taliban look reasonable.

oh sorry snowflake, you have an affinity for bronze statues of slavers?
I have an affinity for history. The lefty taliban wants to erase ours. That we allow it just makes us an ugly people.
And those on the right are for the most part liars – this post being an example of that.

Nothing is being ‘erased’ – the ‘monuments’ are simply being relocated to more appropriate venues, such as museums.

The only ugliness is the hate, bigotry, and racism the ‘monuments’ represent – hate, bigotry, and racism far too many on the right seek to perpetuate.

again, Beauregard was a full general in the CSA and risked his life to retain the CSA's right to enslave people.

and, he was NOT in the Union Army (you know, America's army) and risked his life to end the right to enslave people

regardless if he was anti-slavery or owned no slaves, he risked his life to retain slavery

was he a tad confused or a double agent?

Once again, you're mired in a self-appointed binary-bot prison if you're trying to tell this board that the entire Civil War, and everyone in it, was entirely about slavery and only about slavery -- as if that's all anybody thought about. That's just ignorant.

As I've already documented Beauregard wasn't a fan of slavery. That's just how it is, deal with it.

oh please, stop with the the idiocy

the Civil War was indeed ALL about a state's right to own slaves

of course deniers such as yourself like to expound for hours "it was all about States' Rights!"

yep, a states right to continue slavery to support their economies

btw Beauregard was the CSA general who attacked Sumpter

naw, he didn't give a shit about slavery, just a good ole boy!

Slavery wasn't an issue until two years into the civil war. Slavery was legal in the north for years after the civil war. The nobility of the north was just bullshit. It was all about the mills in the north crushing the growers in the south.

Read a history book. You might figure it out.

They should take all these statues of traitors on horse-back to the United States and make a confederate merry-go-round so children will remember these people as forgotten amusements. Nothing more.

"Go for the brass ring Bobby Joe!"

Is there any evidence that this particular general was a slave owner or a slave dealer?
He wasn't either a slave owner or dealer. He was in the military his entire life.

seems DISGUSTING to me that people are blocked from mourning their dead.

How long ago did he die? I mean, are there really mourners, dressed in black, forming a double line but being turned away?

The statues celebrate treason, sedition and worst of all, slavery.

This would be like having pro-nazi, pro-holocaust statues and flags in Germany.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — A last-ditch effort to block the removal of a monument to a Confederate general in New Orleans was rejected Wednesday by a Louisiana judge who turned away arguments that the city doesn't own the statue or the land on which it sits.

"This has gone on an inordinate amount of time," Judge Kern Reese said as he outlined reasons for his refusal to grant an injunction protecting the statue of Gen. P.G.T Beauregard. It was a reference to state and federal court battles that delayed removal of the Beauregard monument and three others for more than a year.

why would Sessions care...he actually prosecuted a klan grand wizard and saw him put to death....the democrats? They embraced their racists....like j. william fulbright, bill clinton's good friend and political mentor, clinton gave that racist pig the Presidential medal of freedom....or robert "kkk" byrd, the hero of the democrat party...he was a kleagal in the klan ........ or reverend jeremiah wright, the racist who obama called a close personal friend who married obama and michelle....and whose sermons each week were racist, hate filled, anti-American rants....

So the ones mourning the removal of these democrat statues are the democrats.....Sessions is a Republican who put a grand wizard of the kkk to death....

Nope, the Civil War wasn't between political parties, Shitferbrains.
Maybe take some of these ellipses you seem to be overstocked with to a pawn shop and see if you can trade 'em for a history book.

The democrats fought to keep their slaves...the Republicans, the anti-slavery party, fought the war, defeated the democrats and then freed the black slaves owned by the democrats......

Nice try at deflecting the truth though...

Shit for brains.

Nope -- he killed the son of the Klan head.

>> It was however, the civil case pursued by the SPLC, not the prosecution of Henry Hays, that “broke the Klan in the heart of dixie.” Hays was not the head of the KKK in Alabama, and he was prosecuted by state authorities, not the U.S. attorney’s office. And according to Sessions’s former subordinate Thomas Figures, that prosecution would never have occurred had Sessions had his way. <<

Interestingly, the NAACP paid for his defense attorney. Because of its opposition to the death penalty, regardless who's involved.

Do your homework next time.

Interesting isn't it, that the parties completely switched sides on this and other humanitarian issues?

Or are you really going to say you're a Dem?

BillyBoy, make a note: it's really really reeelly stupid to pretend that pre-Civil War political party platforms have any bearing on our modern day political parties.

Feel free to write that down.

If that were true, why did all the Con-federate state articles of secession mention slavery as the reason for secession?

Boy, you really are out of touch with the facts. But you're very good at posting partial truth and conveniently forget the most salient points.

Another moron who posts before reading.

We've already established that Beauregard ---a lifelong Democrat --- was no fan of slavery.

As for the War, the Union --- which is an actual side that actually DID fight in the War --- comprised Republicans, Democrats, old Whigs, and plenty of people not connected with a political party which -------- THIS JUST IN -------- is not a requirement or living on fucking planet earth, Dumbass.

Meanwhile the Confederacy ----- which is the other side ------ comprised Democrats, Constitutional Unionists, old Whigs and Know-Nothings and --- again ---- plenty of people not connected with a political party which -------- THIS JUST IN -------- is not a requirement or living on fucking planet earth, Dumbass.

Once again stupid --- just because you don't have the intellect to get through life without following a fucking political party, doesn't mean everyone has that limitation.

Understand?

Fun fact: in the 1860 election just before the War, the Democratic candidate Stephen Douglas pullled exactly the same number of electoral votes in the South as Lincoln did --- Zero. That's because the South had already seceded from the Democratic Party. He ended up in fourth place in that election, and when the votes were tallied he went out on Lincoln's behalf to speak for preserving the union in the short time he had left to live.

What an ugly people we are turning into. The American left makes the taliban look reasonable.
They did go after monuments of history right off the bat. It appears here the people are willing to just give up history to them freely.

Nobody's "blocked" from mourning anything. They simply want to move a statue. That's it.

oh----will the want grave stones removed too?
That is a bait and switch move locally to confuse people who look through historically owned properties. I did not realize they did that in other places too.
