Trump's lawyers requested a SUMMARY JUDGEMENT on all charges, the prosecutor asked for a SUMMARY JUDGEMENT for only one of the issues being litigated that the trump team requested, and for the others the defense felt a trial was needed.

The judge agreed that a SUMMARY judgement could be given Trump lawyers in only one of the issues they wanted a judicial summary judgement on ....the same one the prosecutors requested a SUMMARY JUDGEMENT on.

A summary judgement is a verdict by the judge in a case where there are no jurors, where the prosecution has presented all of their evidence to the judge and the defence team has also presented their evidence to the judge or rebuttals to the judge, and due to overwhelming tangible evidence presented already, the judge responsible for the verdict, can make a judgement without a further need for a trial

A summary judgment is a normal procedure in civil, non jury, trials....from all that I have read up on it.
