Just goes to show you how the government fucks up everything it touches.

Anarchism in a nutshell.

Maybe. But Skull Pilot is absolutely 100% correct. Throughout all of history, nothing has caused more regression, misery, violence, war and economic damage than the state apparatus.

I thought that was supposed to be religion.

In any case, my post was merely an observation, not a positive nor negative criticism.

The categorical statement that religion or the state or any other human creation has caused all the harm obscures the root cause. Obviously, the fault lies not with the creation, but with the creator.

People (read men) love and seek power and will do anything for it and with it.

Government can work well and provide necessary services. In some countries, it does.

US government is good on paper. Practiced as it is by a two party dictatorship serving limited, vested interest, 'it ain't so great'.

When the population get bigger, everything else has to get bigger, IF you want a smaller country birth control, abortions and every one for himself and border security is the way to go. A bigger government with bigger taxes to meet the needs of a bigger population. Cause and effect.

This is some of the worst logic ever.

.

"Everything is different, but the same... things are more moderner than before... bigger, and yet smaller... it's computers... San Dimas High School football rules"

Not sure why but I was suddenly reminded of that quote.

WTF? Joe is a whore. Want an asinine subject. Population growth fool. We cannot meet the need of population growth of illegal immigration that contributed to the need for a bigger government and every thing that grow with population growth. As population grows, so does poverty. China has the answer.
A a good size natural disaster that kill off a few million will bring us down to size.

Effects of population explosion.
Population Explosion

I humbly disagree. The more people there are, the more opportunities there are for trade. People become wealthier. There may be "poor" but those poor end up being being better off that the rich were 100 to 200 years ago.

No. Govt is inefficient because it just receives monies from taxpayers. There is no accountability or responsibility because it did not have to earn that money.

That isn't 'government', that is your representatives misrepresenting you.

Of, by, and for? Regardless, we have some massive misrepresentation going on right now.

Of, by and for those that profit from the crime. It is totally obvious, yet it seems to be commonly denied, for whom this system works currently.

Who is benefiting? The majority?

And this is what always happens in governments. They corrupt, favoritwe themselves and their friends, then turn the taxpayiers, plebs, etc..into serfs. Human farming si the most profitable scheme ever created and they get better at keeping citizens docile and accepting of their cattle status with every passing decade.

He was really howling on Morning Joe....and I can't say I disagree with him anymore.

Why are we not talking about breaking up the banks ?

Why are we not talking about breaking up the military-industrial complex ?

Why are we not taking on a bloated Social Security ?

Why are we not taking on Medicare ?

He said everything keeps getting bigger and I agree this is going to screw us.

Yep. And my answer to those questions would be that our "leaders" are more concerned with re-election and fundraising than they are in making the tough choices that might alienate people. And that's why we need:
  1. A Balanced Budget Amendment
  2. Strict Term Limits
  3. Publicly-funded Elections
Waiting for our "leaders" to behave responsibly is a fool's errand.

.

Term limits and publicly funded elections are the exact wrong way to go. Don't even think about taking away my freedom to choose who I wish to support.

Here are some real solutions:

1. Raise the retirement age. We are living longer, we should be working longer. When Social Security was enacted, the average life expectancy was 60 and only 6 percent of Americans were over the age of 65. Today, average life expectancy is 78 and 13 percent of Americans are over the age of 65. We have literally doubled our "entitlement" load.

Social Security was insurance. Not everyone was expected to collect. Now it is an entitlement.

LilOlLady believes this means we should raise taxes.

No.

We need to index the retirement age to life expectancy or back to 6 percent of the population.

When we average life expectancy to 100 years, are we going to live one third of our lives on Social Security? I don't think so! We clearly need to raise the eligibility age.

Raise the eligibility age to 70. That's not even life expectancy, but you would be paying into Social Security and Medicare five more years and drawing out five less years. That's an astronomical savings of federal outlays right there.

2. Repeal the Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2010 (Dodd-Frank), the Commmodities Futures Modernization Act of 2000 (CFMA), and the Financal Services Modernization Act of 1999 (FSMA).

The CFMA and FSMA completely deregulated the financial services sector and brought us the worldwide derivatives bubble and crash, which we are still going through. See Greece, Spain, Italy, Irleand, Eurozone, etc.

Dodd-Frank is a weak and ineffective attempt to gum the financial institutions into sane and non-fraudulent behavior when what we need is some legislation with teeth.

An outright ban on credit default swaps, for starters.

Next, all OTC derivatives are to be sold on exchanges. Dodd-Frank attempts to do this, but the visitor's log at the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau shows that the big Wall Street firms are doing their level best to undermine the "end user" definition so the entire insurance protection framework of the securities exchanges will be rendered moot. They are building the loopholes they will drive their trucks full of money through.

Consolidate all federal financial regulatory authority under one roof so there can be no regulator shopping.

Return to the states their authority to prosecute financial fraud that was taken away by the CFMA and the OCC.

3. Send fraudsters to prison. Enough with this "paid out some lunch money with no admission of wrongdoing" bullshit.

The financial services industry has become an oligarchy with 40 percent of all the corporate profits in our entire economy going to that one sector. There is a MASSIVE redistribution of wealth going on, from the pockets of the common man into the Cayman bank accounts of a tiny percentage of one percent of Americans. The money you pay for your health, auto and life insurance; your college tuition; your 401k; and even your taxes are going to Wall Street brokers' pockets. I kid you not.

4. Allow big businesses to fail. It is not capitalism if you aren't allowed to fail. Period.

The government propping up of failed businesses is REAL socialism, and it leads to more and more inefficiencies, corruption and bigger and bigger and bigger failures until we one day will be talking about Too Big To Save banks, at which point we will be well and truly fucked like you can't even imagine.

The apologists for Wall Street think totalitarianism is coming out of left field.

It isn't. It is coming from right field. With all the bigotry bells and whistles attached.

5. Reform the tax code. Get rid of all the deductions, loopholes, subsidies, whatever you want to call them. All of them. It's a lot harder to corrupt a Congressman if he isn't allowed to fuck with the tax code.
