Joe Manchin eyes potential third-party White House run. What do this board's moderates have to say?

All the screaming about how Biden is corrupt, how he has used his position in government to advance the family business. And the other view, that Trump used his position as president to further his businesses. Well Manchin "defines" that type of corruption.

Manchin has made his money selling "gob" coal. I mean it is coal, kind of, it is discarded coal mixed with rocks, more carbon intensive than wood. But in West Virginia, well companies get a credit toward an "alternative energy" source by burning waste coal. How mean now cynical is that? But Manchin made that happen when he was governor.

I mean it is a hell of a gig. Manchin picks up the waste coal for like fourteen bucks a ton or so, government contract. And then they sell it to a special power plant, that gets a special exemption from environmental controls, gets credit for using an "alternative energy" source, and they pay the same as the cost of real coal. That is usually over a hundred bucks a ton. I mean Manchin is profiting over eighty bucks a ton.
Yes, Manchin made his money off coal and now he makes his money helping the DNC destroy coal.

It shows he has no soul.

We have a few so-called "moderates", who (and you know who you are) only seem to go after the board's conservatives. If Manchin runs, would you support him?
In other words if the choice is Biden, Trump, or Manchin, who will you support?

Absolutely and totally without hesitation, Manchin. I'm sick of the extremes of both sides. And, Manchin would probably run on the No Labels ticket, which would have one Democrat and one Republican on the ticket. Fuck both parties.

A 3rd party candidate these days is usually a democrat who can't stand Biden but doesn't have the balls to become a republican.

Depends on his platform. At this point, I'll vote for anyone genuinely campaigning for ranked choice voting - as long as they're not a jerk. Anyone heard Manchin's position on RCV?

Could you post one vote where Manchin voted against coal?

That said, the paranoia is deep in this thread.

If the republicans get hard up they will vote a 15 week ban in. Then will be in a bind, no one want's a 15 week ban in. Pop almost 2 million people.
Young women are the core of the one-issue pro-abortion voters. After the SCOTUS decision, their main concern is that a pregnant woman might not be able to get an abortion in a pro-life state. Thus, they are starting to support a federal law with relaxed restrictions. Once they understand that a 15 week ban is more than three months, they will support it.

Trump used his position as president to further his businesses.
Potatohead got rich selling out to foreign interest. Trump lost money as President. And that doesn't include his salary as President he gave away to charity.

Manchin is not running for reelection because WV voters have finally caught on to his faux conservatism. That being said, he would be one `of the few Democrats who could campaign against the disastrous Biden administration next year. The reason the DNC shut down the primary process this year was to avoid such criticism until its convention, when the pretense of renominating Biden/Harris will have been abandoned. At that time, a fresh new candidate will be selected who can distance himself from the problems they have created.

Under the current system he has no chance. With a runoff system or with ranked choice voting he has a better chance, but still not a realistic chance.

Do you have a big news that he gave to charity. I bet he didn't.
