Are our farms and processing centers at full capacity?

I dont understand how we cant make sure we have more food in “the fall” if we know its coming.

Stop exports of food. Grow more shit.

Are we still paying farmers NOT to grow? If so, it should stop and we should tell them to grow more shit.

Doesnt this seem reasonable? Just pearl clutching is not going to get it done.

So basically impose big gubmint on the free market. Eyes are slowly opening.

Perhaps, "big gubmint" just needs to step out of the way letting those
that know take care of business. :eusa_whistle:
Fine then let food shortages happen. The oligarchy will make record profits from the scarcity, as so many industries are doing right now.

In the years I have been living Americans have survived. There were some questionable ways and of course supply and demand. This is Government interfering with supply chains. Muddling everything. Behind the scenes like the Immigration issue bringing illegals to many different places.

Legally, I don't see how the govt can prevent anyone from selling their "production" to the highest bidder, and while I understand what you're saying, I suspect most growers and meat producers had their production levels set before Putin invaded Ukraine, and while Biden leaves "something" to be desired for about everyone, he was the first to take Putin seriously on this.

What is Bidens plan? He said we will face a food shortage in THE FALL.

NO PLAN.

Doesnt a food shortage seem important? I like to eat. Every day I eat food. How about you guys?

The private sector knows a hell of a lot more than any politician on the Hill.
True story. Just don't handcuff them and watch.
The private sector is great at making profit. People and the economy may be suffering extremely from gas prices, but there are record profits for oil and gas sellers and so they will not drill more. Profiting from misery is as American as apple pie.

Most states have not even started planting yet. Most won't be harvested till Oct or later.

You want the Govt to take control of the crops and not allow the farmers to choose where to sell them?

About 1.3% of fertile farmland is in CRP. The farmers have requested to be able to use it this year without penalty, but the stupid USDA said no. While it is not a lot it would have made a difference.

Most of what you posted shows your lack of any knowledge on the subject.

I don't know what sites to look at to see if the USDA has (or even can without legislation) change crop subsidies. And throwing yet another wrenh into that is the cost of fertilizer, which has gone up because of Putin. US farmland could be a much as 40% less productive, but I believe the USDA sets subsidies to anticipate how much supply there will be, and set a basement price for specific products.

Maybe I should buy extra vitimins and generic metamucil. (-

Where did you get the 40% number?

What is the plan?

Biden laid out nothing. He only said there will be a food shortage in the fall.

President Biden warned Thursday that there could be global food shortages resulting from the Russian invasion of Ukraine and announced steps to prevent a potential crisis.
“We did talk about food shortages. And it’s going to be real. The price of these sanctions is not just imposed upon Russia, it’s imposed upon an awful lot of countries as well, including European countries and our country as well,” Biden said at a press conference from Brussels, where he is meeting with NATO leaders.
Both Russia and Ukraine, for example, are providers of wheat, Biden noted, though he pointed out that the U.S. and Canada are both major wheat producers, too.
The president announced his intention to redouble combined efforts with the European Union to increase global food security and provide direct food aid, where warranted, to prevent a crisis in a joint statement with European Union President Ursula von der Leyen on Thursday.
The president said NATO leaders talked about urging all the European countries and everyone else “to end trade restrictions on limitations on sending food abroad.”
The U.S. and its allies, Biden said, are in the “process of working out” how to alleviate food shortage concerns amid rising inflation and lingering supply chain issues." - The Hill

You do not know how the oil industry even works, so don't try.
Just a hint for you, the oil industry AVERAGES a 6.7% profit on a gallon of gas.
