• The inquisitions actually established the precedent that evidence needed to be provided however poorly some did it and ended the rein of the Cathars who were reprehensible human beings who Darwinized themselves out of existence.
• They burned people they believed were witches and stopped doing it when they realized there were no witches.
• They fought the Nazis.
• There were less than 300 priests that were predators, the rest were mostly homosexual dalliances with teenage boys.

The Ottoman Empire didn't "begin" until after the Crusades were over.

The Crusades actually WEAKENED the Byzantine Empire, which was the only bulwark against Muslim and later Ottoman Expansion. Particularly the Fourth Crusade, which never killed a single infidel, but looted Constantinople to enrich Venice.

The Crusades started because Urban II wanted to burnish his credentials as the "legitimate" Pope vs. the Anti-Pope being propped up by the Holy Roman Emperor, Clement III.

The inquisitions actually established the precedent that evidence needed to be provided however poorly some did it and ended the rein of the Cathars who were reprehensible human beings who Darwinized themselves out of existence.

Pius XII did nothing when the SS rounded up Rome's Jews, and was called "Hitler's Pope".

There were less than 300 priests that were predators, the rest were mostly homosexual dalliances with teenage boys.

Actually, it was 784 in just the US alone. And that's just the ones we know about.

The problem wasn't just that priests were predators, it was that the Church's policy was to exclude anyone who had a healthy relationship with women, and then let them spend time with kids. It was a recipe for disaster.

well, to start with, I'm helping my wife navigate the immigration system.

In November, I'm going to work for whichever candidates will put an end to Trump's fascism.
