Jared Kushner's shadow coronavirus task force used a spreadsheet called 'VIP Update' to procure PPE from inexperienced Trump allies over legitimate vendors
In theory, the group was supposed to find the most promising leads on protective gear and funnel them to FEMA. Instead, it prioritized Trump allies.

Kushner who job title is a white house advisor formed an "unofficial" task force to get more masks. This group of ninjas made up entirely of republican operatives and friends of the trump circle decided to use friendly republican sources and trump associates to develop leads that would then be forwarded to FEMA. Lucrative contracts with the government in a time when clearly there was a need to find legitimate sources and not who you know. Ignoring sources in favor of other sources.
Well these other sources had predictable results and according to a New York Times article there was numerous botched deals.They purposely used leads from exclusive republican sources and Trump associates like Conservative activist Charles Kirk and Tana Goertz instead of looking for leads in any source
The result of one deal was for a $69 million contract which was given to the Yaron Oren-Pines to provide 1,000 ventilators to New York state after he sent a tweeted to the president. He never delivered and the state is trying to get there money back. I guess no oversight with volunteers. Another deal from a Trump associate to get test kits from mexico that did not produce the desired results.
The disturbing part is not the results but how it clearly indicates preferential treatment to get deals from the government in a time of crises. Also instead of using friends and associates, they should have dealt with any respectable company that could be used but instead limited it to a chosen few. No politics allowed should have been there motto.
legitimate vendors according to the story were not consulted or asked. It was like club Trump. It was the live version of the Apprentice. It is who you know and if you don't know them, ignore them. They might be democrats. One source had Chinese connections to get mask and tried to get this team of ninjas to call him. He was ignored and he just sold the same supplies to hospitals in Michigan. Jeannie Pierro (FOX) was able to get 100,000 mask for a hospital she favored by calling the task force. This is how the state now operates under Donald Trump.
Funny how Trump accused Washington of being a part of the deep state. Now Washington is part of the family. It's a family affair and you have to be appreciative to the Don. If America is great again then why not use all sources including any private companies that have experience in getting mask and using FEMA to procure additional masks who has experience. Why use entrepreneurs who are only interested in who you know and what is political views. Trump promised change but is it the same or worse.
