Both decided that they were playing a bigger game than legal niceties. In Roberts' case, his decision to uphold Obamacare was calculated to keep it alive as a negative issue against Obama's reelection bid, while at the same time forcing the Liberal justices to accept a curb on the Commerce Clause in future cases.

In the same vein, Comey has decided that the upcoming election is more important than perpetuating a legal squabble that would allow Hillary to play the victim of a rogue prosecutor (a la Ken Starr's prosecution of her husband). Besides, Hillary will be given a Presidential pardon anyway. Instead, he presented to the public a de facto indictment of her corrupt practices.

Whether Comie will have any greater effect on the subsequent election than did Roberts remains to be seen. But he just made Hillary's road to the White House a lot rougher.

Comey pulled NOTHING

He is NOT a prosecuot

Only and INDEPENDENT PROSECUTOR can waive prosecution

18 USC 793, makes it a felony to "mishandle classified information either intentionally or in a grossly negligent way"

.

Comey had integrity until yesterday, when he didn't.

Out of a 30 day month or 30 year career, when you major fuck-up once; guess what?........the other 29 days or 29 years don't count!

I notice you guys often leave this part out when citing 18 USC 793...

"Shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both."

Even if she were found guilty, do you honestly believe that she would get anything more than a fine? She'd be fined and they'd be done with it.

So, what's yer' point? That we eagerly elect convicted felons who are only fined, President? (You look stupid.....very, very stupid........).

My point is that team GOP would be better off just shutting the fuck up, stop whining, put on their big boy pants and accept the fact that their hatchet job failed, and that it might be a better course of action for them to actually try to beat Hillary on policy and merit, rather than spending every waking minute of their pathetic lives obsessing over her. Hey, it's just a thought.

The point of the law is to bust spy's and wouldbe whistle blowers (aka Snowden).

People should read the thing and think aboiut how pointless a criminal complaint would be . To prove the elements of the crime would be a real stretch .

I'm so elated that you walked that back...........:spinner:........

JW, that was a good assessment but I'm afraid it doesn't pass the reality test. Just flip through the posts here and check the reactions. We won you lost. Republican witch hunt. Republicans hounding Hilary. Republicans can't do anything right. She was innocent all along. And then it has to be said that Donald trump is hitler.

I would agree with your post if I thought that the American people cared about character. I just don't know anymore. I can see rd or some other liberal poster saying well I voted for Obama and Hilary and their grandkids saying, well, weren't they the biggest liars to ever occupy the whitehouse? And rd saying, well at least they were democrats, remember that children. It is pathetic and corrosive, that these people are the role models for our young. Lying is the democrats first strategy and they do it up and down the ticket and it works. Until, the voters say we are no longer going to accept people lying to us, all the ammunition they give us is blanks. But I hope what you say is true.
