The Left really need J6 to be an insurrection otherwise, their entire world simply falls apart on Trump! Just as they really need Trump to be a /convicted/ felon, no matter how specious the cases and even with all of them being dropped. Just as now they need to award a whole bunch of really bad people with medals and pardons no matter how heinous the crime or how much crime they did against this country.

Apparently they cannot even report of the certification of a new president without sticking in something about that horrible "insurrection" from four years ago.

He also browbeat his Vice President to overturn the election, and when his VP refused to do so on January 6, Trump sicced the mob on him. Then Trump spent three hours sitting on his ass doing nothing as the insurrection raged and 140 police officers were mauled.

What's more, Trump created fake electors in seven states in his attempt to overthrow the election.
