I think under his seeming reasonableness there is an ideologue lurking. If he truly thinks socialism is not an issue
he might be disqualifying himself based on his own lack of candor and or naivete.

It is an issue for many many people. The way to make socialism an issue for people who have never lived under socialism is to begin to redistribute wealth from them to the people they see
sitting by highway off ramps holding hand lettered signs asking for money as they drive to work every morning.

So I do understand the need for smart government regulation. There is also a very big difference from the type of socialism we see in Sweden/Iceland vs. Venezuela/Nazi Germany.

Now what specific elements of Mayor Pete’s platform makes you think he is promoting a Ven/Germany type of socialism in this country?

I like small government, low taxes and personal freedom, however there is such a thing as corporate socialism when big business obtains power over the people through their control of the markets and there is potential for abuse. So I do understand the need for smart government regulation. There is also a very big difference from the type of socialism we see in Sweden/Iceland vs. Venezuela/Nazi Germany.

Obviously I know nothing in particular about Buttigeig's socialist plans and trust he doesn't want another Venezuela or Germany. So good satire or a personal jab?...I don't know which one it was.

I just know not much that government does starts out as especially vile or detestable things but it often ends up that way. Such as civil rights laws that end up enabling males take over girls sports teams and events making a mockery
of female sports and civil rights, all at once.

That's the nature of power in the hands of Big Government. It's like putting a shot gun in the hands of a twelve year old. It was intended he could use it to shoot predators on the family farm. It winds up being more fun to shoot at crows, trees, ears of corn, melons, apples etc.


No. I don't approve of corporate socialism and no I don't approve of socialism, with a small s, government.
And I don't want my money, beyond the taxes I already pay and have little control over, being given by some bureaucrats somewhere in the vast monolithic government to pay for sexual reassignment surgery for the children of illegal immigrants or some other "hateful bigoted right wing" reason you can imagine I might have.

I would rather see my money go to the places I feel it would do the most good. A crazy idea...right?

I don't think he wants Venezuela, as I've already said but once we invite the government to come in and manage more of our lives we've made a terrible mistake, in my view.

Buttigeig may be smart but I don't think he's perceptive and that's the problem.
