May it be a good day for everyone, with G-d blessing us all.

I pray for peace and for humanity to progress beyond the violent species we have become.

Can you please explain why you write God's name with a dash and omit the "o" thanks.
Multiple reasons, first, in Deuteronomy it is explicitly stated to not erase or desecrate his name. Therefore to add the - is a sign of respect, endearment and reverence , practiced primary by orthodox Jews. I personally maintain this tradition. I could just type Hashem I believe but I don't do so on a.regular basis. A similar comparison from the Christian perspective which I was most privy to as a kid, to "not take the L-rds name.in vain". So I avoided.ever saying "oh my G...". An old British teacher advised a student that it was considered an extreme curse, blasphemous I suppose. This stuck with me as a kid and I sought answers for this seemingoy innocuous saying of sort. I thus never verbally said "oh my G..." . Now, as a practical and theological matter, typing the name is akin to this offense. Deuteronomy states it in detail but I am too tired to search the specific. text.

Conservative Jews insert the hyphen, as well.

One part of this has always puzzled me. His name is not G-d, it is a description of His status, who He is, isn't it. As an example, would we show respect to our parents by M-m or D-d, meaning that is who they are, but it's not their names? Not criticizing, really! Just something that has always puzzled me.

Well, G-d created all, including our parents, right? It is a mitzvah to honour our parents, but not to worship and abide by their laws for life. Perhaps as a child you should right M-m or D-d lol. Remember though, it is all based on Deuteronomy.

I do understand your point though, but once something is written in the Torah you will have loyal followers and those who go that extra mile "just in case" or to avoid any ambiguity of which there is plenty.

If you've ever read through the talmud, of which I have read approximately a quarter to a 3rd I guess, in a non-linear fashion as it were; you would better appreciate that these debates have gone on in detail, orally and recorded in text, for literally thousands of years.

What is this response? He is in the religious posting section, he has probably read the bible himself. Deuteronomy is where the answer lies more specifically to what is often conveyed by Jewish scholars and.rabbis.

I was joking. You said you were too lazy. I was pretending to be outraged by using a funny gif.
