I don’t want the Government doing much of ANYTHING. Every social program, every education, energy, and foreign assistance program. All foreign military spending. It all needs to go. At least half the Federal Government spending and probably more.

The only way that works is if you uncap the tax but cap the benefit. But it’s not a tax it’s your money except the government argued against that to SCOTUS when it was reviewing the constitutionality of SS.

Right. So, on the one hand, the government gives you $1000 tax break for doing what you're told. Or they give you a $1000 subsidy for doing what you're told. You can parse semantics, but your bank account certainly won't see a difference. Free money is free money.
There are several ideas that have been proposed... like placing a retirement program aligned with the stock market... or going private... take it away from the feds and allow private retirement insurance companies to handle it... anything but what we have now because what we have now is bankrupted and doesn't even cover folks basic needs and the account is empty with a shoebox of IOU's in it...
