It looks like Pennsylvania will decide the election

It's not looking good for Harris. People over on social media seem to be soothing themselves by cherry picking demographic data that they think helps their case. But it's all geography, at this point. And Harris seems to be under performing too many key regions in the swing states, compared to Biden in 2020.
Be that as it may but you didn't address my question about our electoral college system.

I'm pretty much astounded by the amount of betting going on. I mean I'm used to people betting on the super bowl and the horses.... This really blows my mind. Of course the oddsmakers don't have to be correct.
It's an industry.

It's easy to see where the disparity is between the popular vote and the electoral vote. The problem is you have to show some deference to the state entities. United States is still a cooperative of individual states. To get rid of the electoral college you would have to dissolve the states. I'm not sure how that would be done.

The electoral college isn't going anywhere in our lifetimes. Like it or hate it, we're stuck with it.

If they are so keen on keeping the electoral college system they can allocate the number of votes according to the popular vote in the state.

It will stay as long as the states remain States. If you begin to change the definition of the contract that form the United States I don't think you would end up with just one country.

Thanks for your thoughtful response. I agree. There's gotta be a better system. The current one cancelles too many of us out and both parties benefit from us being at each other's throats instead of uniting and forcing em to improve it.
“Cancelles”

LOL

Yes I think ranked choice voting could solve a lot of problems, ease the disparity of the electoral college and finally begin to make more connections between people who are generally diametrically opposed to each other.

The greatest loss in this nation that I can see is the loss of unity. Unify the opposing components and the sky would be the limit after that!

People talk about the different problems we have in this nation... but there is one that rises above all others. That is the divisions created by the two-party system and the mindless and soulless pursuit of victory at any cost by both parties.

Yeah that sounds like a reasonable arrangement. I'm afraid too many people count on the antithesis and the negative energy created by that to try to gain some political advantage from it.
It's like a tobacco habit.

Who benefits? If you wanna find the bad guy, follow the money. You will arrive at the 1% that benefitted the most from Trump's tax cuts and deregulation.

New York.....you an idiot?

Bastion of left wingers forever.

They did that for Hunter Biden.....

I'd rather cows vote than people in the inner cities.
