I have been wondering something similar to this and I think I have some suggestions:

1. Israel might still be winning but might want to complete the win faster
2. Israel might be encouraging the US to step up and help defend the approximately 200 thousand American citizens in Israel.
3. If America gets involved, Iran will be less likely to respond because other local Arab states will want to curry Trump's favor and will not support Iran
4. America's involvement will further validate Israel's actions in many people's eyes and will be a proper show of support for what Israel has been doing on behalf of all countries who are threatened by Iran and its proxies
